CD player NOT made in China under $1,000?
Kijanki, "Trelja - where do you see 75% failure rates?"I see it in the line that I represent, which is one of the foremost and well respected of Chinese audio producers.I'm not pulling numbers out of thin air, I've documented this, and obviously s...
CD player NOT made in China under $1,000?
Johnk, the point you make is most valid. As the importer of a line of Chinese gear, I can speak with authority in saying the failure rate of their CD players and solid state/hybrid components is so incredibly high as to be difficult to believe. In t...
Accutron DIY projects?
Orca Design used to feature a lot of projects with these drivers. They also used to sell kits, etc. through dealers like Zalytron, who offered cabinets to go along with the drivers, crossovers, and wiring that was spec'd out by Kimon Belles of Orc...
Single driver speakers - opinions
Thankfully, I was able to listen to the CarderSound with Mariusz (great to finally meet you!) a few nights ago, and was more than impressed with the performance of the two models we got to listen to. Each model had, with the medium sized TyBone mo...
Preamp for atma sphere m60
I recently bought an Audio Electronic Supply AE3 on the recommendation of it being a giant killer with a friend's pair of tube monoblocks. Well, I shouldn't say giant killer as much as flat out sensational in his opinion.I have the same pair of mo...
Selling to Canadians
Generally, my strong recommendation is, stay away from deals to and from Canada. That being said, it's best if you can use the Post Office to ship, as they throw the least amount of BS at you. Of course, it's not so easy (though possible) to ship l...
First name basis?
Personally, I'd be most impressed if someone displayed the type of diligence required to use my first name when writing to me.I find it says something, in an obviously negative way, when someone doesn't sign their name to an e-mail. Sadly, in my e...

Conrad Johnson MV45 is a very good idea. I think it will suit your needs well.
classic sounding 25 watt tube amp
I agree with everything Mrtennis said in his last post.Steve Leung is a great guy, and his opinion on the Cayin amplifiers is dead on. In almost all cases, modern amplifiers do not offer the type of coloration he is seeking out here, though Pehare...

Why not just buy a new Dynaco ST70?They're back in production through builders such as myself and Bob Latino, and are a real bargain, at under $1000 for a made in the USA product with warranty.
The closest approach...really
All of this presumes that the audio engineer's ears and tastes are inline with what whatever audiophile "standard" folks in this thread hopefully applies. That just about NEVER, EVER happens.Let us not forget musicians, engineers, and audiophiles ...

Mrtennis, "i have at least 30 would be assistants in the ny area, members of audio clubs, who would assist me, if necessary."It's amazing what you can get the hookers to do these days. Well, I guess so long as they're getting paid...OK, enough lev...

Grant, I wouldn't say that I'm a bright guy. But, based on that Marilyn Lange exchange we had way back, I would say that you know me very well. And, you read me exactly right here today.Newbee, this time, it was worded exactly as it was meant.

Mrtennis, you are 100% right. I apologize. I screwed that up, and even thought to word it differently then.In no way were you asking for help, as you truly view this as a sort of feat of audio strength on your part. That being the case, it would s...

Mrtennis, the "offer" you put forth, which implies asking for help among people you consistently alienate brings to mind two of Rodney Dangerfield's more famous lines..."I remember getting lost at the beach when I was a kid and asking the cop on t...
