Rogue M-150
The fact that different tubes sound different is evident to anyone with even mediocre ears. Yes, they can look the same in some regards, but boy, they sure don't sound the same.
Request to hear Zu speakers
Many thanks to all who contributed in this thread! There is no thread jacking going on. Opinions are always welcome. To me, that's what the threads are for; sharing information, experience, perspective, opinion. Perhaps others will be able to host ...
Repair or Replace mid-range driver for B&W M804
Sunnyday, I would caution against repairing the driver yourself. The reason being, when someone who really values their speakers attempts this type of job, success is very hard to come by. Several things beyond just replacing the surround come int...
Fat Tuesday: Katrina Recovery & Donations Progress
A most classy thread, Zaikesman! I think we all need to be reminded about this so we never lose focus on the issue at hand. And, what better time than at Mardi Gras?Thank you!!!Joe
New law forbidding the sale of used gear Japan
You beat me to the punch, Theduke!Throw in Tannoy, as well as vintage motorcycles, guitars, and even used sneakers and Levi jeans from the gool ol' US of A...
Where Is Musical Fidelity When You Need Them?
Please be a bit more sympathetic to the issues of Musical Fidelity, Ferrari. The management, marketing, advertising, and technical staff of the company has been quite busy. They are dutifully spending time in Connecticut, delivering and setting up ...
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass?
Point well taken, Eldartford.Neither my system, nor my room is perfect. Such a beast does not exist, no matter what anyone claims of their own system/room.I would like to give the Behringer EQ a try. Again, my experience, sans - Behringer, with EQ...
Ring radiator tweeters - the future?
With the Frieds, we were using the Ring Radiator, and have recently switched to a new variant of this (at least, in some models) - the Vifa Ring Dome. I have yet to hear it, but the word was it was a smoother, more natural presentation.
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass?
Grant, you are right. The $200 budget really makes things difficult. The only point I wanted to make was that I am not a fan of the equalizer solution. And, it's not because I haven't tried. On paper, I think I would LOVE to have an EQ in my system...
Bargain interconnects to tame treble & boost bass?
I have not listened to the Behringer EQ, and have heard that there are "good" EQs out in the world, but MY experience, which includes the AudioControl, is that an equalizer is the surest means to destroy the sonics of a high end audio system that ...
Best color s to paint dedicated listening room
If anyone ever doubted that audiophiles are seriously neurotic, this thread is ultimate proof. The answers are incredibly insightful as to each individual.
Worst Name for A Piece of Equipment
Marty, normally your posts are hysterically funny OR incredibly enlightening. However, this time you managed to do both!
Is Apogee in a class by itself among planars?
Eldartford, I believe you are correct in your last statement. And, our longtime Audiogon Apogee experts Muralman1 and Sogood51 have checked in, and I will say that none of us can compete with their knowledge regarding the product.Someday, I'll own...
Is Apogee in a class by itself among planars?
It is just plain wrong to say that a ribbon is "very long and narrow". A ribbon can be of probably any dimension. The ribbon bass units on an Apogee are ANYTHING but narrow, and in the shorter models, they are not very long (depending on your defi...
What are your
Jadis DA60, Coincident Digital Master w/Troubass subwoofers, and Bud Fried's own long time personal speakers (C/4 sats w/O subs) that he gave to me a couple of months before his death. Obviously, I am humbled by that token of kinship by the man wh...
