Your greatest high end audio purchase!!!
“Your greatest high end audio purchase!!!?”   Mine was low cost. It is the Audiogon forums…   Knowledge is power.
New Phono Cart with Character Needed
The Grado Prestige Gold, in my experience, is a there there cartridge that may provide what you seek. The cash outlay is negligible and the company has been around for quite some time. Grado may not be as fashionable as a Soundsmith or a Hana yet ...
Ripping CDs
It appears you are not set up to rip cds. Contract the job out to someone local to perform the task. Their fee may be as low as keeping copies of your music…
Adcom pre amp versus Van Alstine
At the prices these units command, buy both and evaluate on your own time. Report back here with the winner. Everyone loves a shootout.
Anyone listen to Music on a FM tuner anymore?
Oh yes indeed. Maybe not daily but quite often. A tuner from the XDR guy does the job quite nicely.
Technics SL-1310 Mk2
I have two Technics "auto" turntables. The SL-Q3 and the 1600 MK2. Not to derail what you seek, yet the SL-Q3 is highly recommended. Being able to select the number of repeats is very nice. It is a great low frills unit that will tide you over unt...
If Conrad Johnson still made a DAC it would sound like??
Van Alstine may be close to what you seek. Definitely not as rich as a CJ product yet way less "nails on a chalkboard" sound than many of the products out there...
Can we contribute
@audition__audio   Amen, sir. Having to guess as to what the reviewer may or may be trying to say is tiresome at best. A healthy dose of honest reviews sure would be nice...
Happy Holidays to All
Thank you!    Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Is it important to long demo or own HIGH END gear to have a fair accurate view about it?
“Long demo”? A year? A quarter?    Many opinions on the definition of “long.” Mine is about an hour. If it doesn’t irritate me beyond belief it remains for a while for further investigation. I’ve found that if it’s that irritating out of the g...
Keep my 1996 bryston 4B or get a new 4B
It’s cheaper to keep her. As suggested, do the Bryson refurb thing. If cost be no object, buy the latest and greatest 4B3. When 2050 rolls around, upgrade again to the 4B9 or whatever. A 4 time a century amp upgrade appears to be cheap overall…..
Have we lost civility and respect on Audio forums?
“Have we lost civility and respect on Audio forums?”   Civility, was it ever found?
Does it bother you when you see inflated MSRP’s for used gear on AG?
Perhaps the MSRP listed by some is adjusted for inflation? The same inflation we are told is minimal at most…. 🙄
A very weird (to me) issue with an Audible Illusions Modulus L2B ...
Agreed with @stereo5. If you possess soldering skills, maybe give the board a look see under a magnifying glass. Perhaps something will stand out as needing a little reflow. Another option is to send the unit into a reputable repair facility. PCX ...
"I'm a believer"
Simply because a boutique audio manufacturer produced a mega buck product that conforms to their idea of a “reference” sound, does not equate to that product being tolerable in your personal system.
