Mine was horrible via WiFi. Just get a WiFi extender for <$30 and plug it in. That's what Stack recommends for theirs. Or do it right with mesh. |
My Node2i via BluOs on Android works very well. I had to upgrade my router to 5gHz because there was too much traffic in my neighborhood on 2.4G. Ive listened to Qobuz via wifi for close to a year and it sounds terrific thru my DAC. Recently, I switched to ethernet CAT8, but you should be able to enjoy streaming through wifi.

Does U Verse offer wifi signals to other devices in the house? Is 5GHz available? |
Couldn't get my Node2i to even connect properly going straight wireless. Added a TP-Link Deco Mesh System (~$100-$150 on Amazon); connected mesh dot via Supra CAT8 ethernet cable to Node2i, and voila! For the most part, seamless streaming and great sounding music. |
Low rider , as far as ghz I’m not sure. My U-verse powers three wireless, cable boxes , plus my Sonos mesh network. My highest U-verse offering is MBPs is 50. Sorry to others as I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to networking. |
Is your service 50 mbps Total? If so, then the number of devices being used comes into play. |
Google the brand and model number of the device that powers your wifi to find out the bandwidth. I Googled my router # when I was having dropouts and discovered it was only 2.4GHz.
So, I upgraded to a new model.

Lowrider, thanks. That 50mbps is being used on many other devices. Besides my Sonos mesh, my internet controls our lights and many devices like iPhones, pads, a laptop. My place is only 1600ft in a high rise. I will google the model number of the gateway as they call it. Thanks . |
You should be able to get a good router and use that as an access point. You can plug that into your uverse router and get a better wireless signal independent of all the other stuff on the uverse router's wireless. |
mine works fine on wifi
i have ok, not great wifi speeds from the provider
i use a mesh system to get good coverage
a separate issue is competing devices within the house on wifi all asking for bandwidth - e.g. teens streaming videos, spouse on zoom calls what have you... |

+1 on the 2i working well on 5G WiFi (not saying it doesn’t work on anything less - that’s just all I’ve tried). I’ve not had any issues and think it sounds great with Qobuz and BluOS, with external dac. |
Thanks for everybody’s response. You have all given me some good ideas to extend my WiFi network. |
I had feast and famine using the Node 2i on wireless and I think it was more due to my cable company than the Node 2i.
I was able to hard wire it in. And I'd explore options as a contingency because I like back-up plans :) |
Great news from rnrmf197159. Thanks! I hadn't known this, and look forward. I've happily been using a Node 2i in my main rig that I'm sure will do quite well in my office system once I get whatever the new model is. -- Howard

From what i have been able to gleen from friends and neighbors, if the WIFI router you are using is provided by the cable provider you NEED to get a better wireless router.
My neighbors are using "extenders" to get reception all around their house and outside, because their service provider supplied the router.
My service provider only supplied a cable modem so I had to buy a router. My router provides flawless WIFI service around the house and into the garden.
I have the Node 2i, the Powernode connected via Ethernet and the Pulse Mini speaker for remote WIFI use.
I use the Pulse Mini on the front porch and in the back garden without any issues or dropouts and my phone still connects to my WIFI at my neighbors house. Even 24/192 tracks on the Pulse Mini play without issue.
I use a Dlink DIR-878 router and it is in my utility room in the basement surrounded by metal ductwork and it still works great
Hope that helps |
