I use Purist Cat 7 Ethernet cable. Really like it.
Tried the Neptune Diamond Revision power cord and hated it.

I have Neptune Luminist Revision RCA interconnects and like them a lot. But it is not exactly neutral cable. Wywires Diamond is overall better but Neptune has its charm. Huge soundstage and tube like qualities.
|
The Neptune power cord resulted in very dark and rolled off sound.
I used to own Aqueous 20th Anniversary speaker cables for years and yes they were warm sounding but resolving and articulate at the same time. Very musical. I think the liquid shielding in Neptune is too much of a good thing.
The Cat 7 Ethernet cable is excellent though and I have no plans to change it. So in my experience it’s a hit or miss with Purist.

If I remember right, Aqueous uses Contego which is sort of a mixture of fluid and Ferox. Never tried them, though.
I use old Dominus Ferox power cord with the VAC Avatar SE tube integrated amp with great results.
|
And believe it or not, I still use the original Purist Colossus fluid speaker cables. They are probably over 30 years old, I had them refilled with the fluid twice by Purist, more than 10 years ago the last time, I think, and they are an excellent match for my warm sounding speakers. Colossus used to be Purist's best value cable, no wonder you can't find it. I mean with fluid, at some point Purist stopped refilling old cables with fluid and offered to fill them with Ferox. I tried it with RCA interconnects and Ferox completely screwed up this cable.
|
Yeah it’s a shame. To beat the Aqueous it took a much more expensive Audience speaker cables.

If memory serves, member ebm used Purist Audio cables. I greatly enjoyed his short and to the point posts. Sadly, while he posted regularly, his last post was dated April 5, 2023 when he dropped off the face of A'gon.

I've had Museaus, Venustas, and Corvus XLR's and an older pair of Venustas triwire speaker cables. They were all very good cables. I would say neutral category. I still have a 4 meter Venustas XLR Diamond rev set for sale. Switched to many other brands in my journey. Really liked the Corvus, gave the KS Elations a run for their money.

I used any number of their cables back in the day, Dominus Ferox and Fluids, had some IC's, can't recall the model, all were favs for quite a while.
|
sns, what do you use now ?
|
I had Purist Colosus .....it sounded too much like tubes.....too colored, but in the right system a great cable

At the time I ran PAD cables was running push pull EL34 and 845SET amps with modified Merlin VSM and various Alon open baffle speakers, also loved Kimber Tri Focal XL with the Alons. Then I got the Klipschorns, more sympathetic with Cardas Golden Refernce which I've always maintained in my speaker and IC collection. Cardas GR has always been my workhorse IC cable, tried many others, just a damn nice cable. Issue with Dominus was overly resonant bass wiith Khorns, especially the liquid, Ferox better but then lost some of the lushness in mids. Kimber was a tri wired cable, only need single wire with Khorns. Generally, I like to stick with a single type cable in all uses, voice with things other than cables, exception is power cords.

Have had Elementa and Aqueous speaker cables for decades; Aqueous still in use in my living room system; Elementa in storage (replaced by much more flexible Morrow SP-4 cables).
|
FWIW, which may be very little, I had a negative reaction to a pair of Purist Audio Design Aqueous 20th Anniversary speaker cables that I purchased (and quickly re-sold) on the used market. It may have had something to do with system, but I went back to Audience cables, which had been my choice for years.
I was using a (high-quality) GATO integrated amp, and Harbeth 30.1 speakers.
I frankly can't recall the details, but I know that I much preferred the Audience AU24e that I had used previously.
|
Never tried Audience cables but heard many good things about them.
Currently I see no reason to upgrade any cable or power cord that I have.
Anyone familiar with Echole cables ?
|
I have an Audience power conditioner and three of their Forte power cords and am very happy with everything I have purchased from them.
What are people’s thoughts about Clarus cables. When they updated their products a few years ago I saw them mentioned everywhere, but now, nothing.

Good to hear the cable industry might be running out of swanky new and improved BS with a few moving on.., back to reality boys 😈
