Any Way To Damp Ringing Stands Without Adding Weight???

My 24"Pangea stands ring like a bell when I tap them..I don't want to add weight...I read about unscented kitty litter but with 1000% humidity where I live probably not a good idea since it absorbs moisture...How about spray foam like you use in construction to plug holes?Any other ideas? Thanks much..

Try some constrained layer damping material like they use in cars to quell road noise. It can be applied to sections that aren't visible or noticeable. You needn't cover the entire surface, just some portion and it can deaden entire sections of surface. It has an adhesive side and you can cut small strips, adding more until you're satisfied.

All the best,

Goto Home Depot and ask for pipe insulation. You could put this either inside the pipe or outside (they sell many diameters). Another options; Get some packing (foam) peanuts and just jam them into the pipes. Spray foam is another idea but may be hard to fill the entire length.
I have the 4 post Pangea stands.  I used the closed cell foam pipe insulation as referenced above.  Seems to work well, as I don't feel any vibration with music playing.  I decided to try this because I once used similar inserts designed to be inserted in steel golf shafts to cut down on vibration.  Worked there too.
