1st Tube amp question

I just purchased my 1st integrated tube amp, the Wilkenson R8. Can I turn it on with no source and no hookup to speakers to start burnin time?  I have read it should always have a source and be hooked up to speakers so as not to damage. Can you offer advice for first time use?

Depends on the amp but you should have the speakers hooked up on most.

A true ,"burn in" optimizes the electronics to music.

Hook anything up...

You need stuff going in and coming out. Quality level isn’t critical… could be an iPad in and an old set of speakers.

You can damage the output transformers with no speakers connected.  This applies to all the tube amps I've used.    Won't hurt most transitor amps , but bad for tube amps

Tube amps need a load on the outputs, whether a speaker or resistor.
