Scent of an Audio Store

Literally. I have always found that to be a remarkable, intoxicating thing. Scent of fine woods mixed with heated electronics and new carpet. The more speakers they have on display, the finer the scent. It smells unlike a furniture store.

I wouldn't be surprised if some stores used scent marketing to lure audiophiles, many brands certainly add a scent to their products and packaging materials.

I think you may be on to something there.

We know that smell is the sense that is most closely associated with memory and emotion, so why not add it to our listening experience to add a little virtual reality.

The smell of gunpowder to go with "The 1812 Overture"?

Stale beer odour for "Closing Time" by Semisonic?

Grilled onions for "Cheeseburger in Paradise" by Jimmy Buffett?
