AA Capitole MKII/ CD Burner to use with it Gerryn, didn't see your post. I have a Marantz CDR-500. No A-A Capitole. I wish :-(
What percentage do you spend on each component? speakers = amp + pre + cdp. That's just how it worked out. I could've gone with a better CDP but whatever improvements there were, weren't worth the $1,700 it would have cost. ($500 maybe).
Audio as a hobby Thanks, jla and nrchy.
What is the worst recorded CD you have? genesis.
Best sounding CD player for 6,000. Meridian 588 is pretty good. Can be a little bright on somespeakers but should be good with M-L's.
Speaking of Joseph Audio Pearls You could try ATC active 100's they are 15K and include amps for each driver and external crossover. Also Talon makes some highly regarded speakers but I have not heard them.I sort of doubt other speakers you mention would be a significant upgrade...
Audio as a hobby Nrchy- how do you sell your used bikes? Bike-b-gon? I have a tough time selling mine.
Speakers for Rock Try DynAudio or Paradigm. People have said the tonal balance of Dynaudio works well with rock and roll. I use N804 and like them because they work for everything. Nothing worse than getting a speaker (or any component) which only plays one type of...
Integrated's equipped for biwiring?? Bill - may have something to do with the sub. Bi-wire is normally for mains only.
When to bi-wire? Does the crossover makes a difference? Like 1st order Thiels don't allow bi-wire but higher order designs use bi-wire. B&W recommends it for "serious listening" in their owners manual.
What's better 100w class a or 200w class ab? Bear, I like the reality check. But Musical Fidelity rates it 72 amps "peak-to-peak output current". Is this some trick to make things sound better than they really are? Like NADs "dynamic power"?Sure sounds a lot more impressive than their 3.2 in...
BMG CD's ARE worse I finally got two identical CD's, one is BMG version, brand new right out of the case; of Steve Winwood's "Arc of a Diver". The other is from the library. The library CD had minor scratches all over it. It also had two thin metal detection strips t...
Suggestions for a DAC I found Joe_b's link:EVS link
What do you think of rogue with B & W 805N? Does it have enough power? I would want at least 80 watts but 120 wpc / high current capability would be better - B&W seems to like / need high current to come to life.
What's better 100w class a or 200w class ab? Interesting point Audiomax. Too bad more companies don't print max current. Creek would advertise peak current of over 30 amps I think but never in their specs. I can subjectively agree with Drrdiamond about Krell as their integrated is punchy.Mus... |
