Problem with my Triplanar
Yeah, what they said. AS would be pulling inwards. It sure sounds like something got bumped. Maybe time to start from the beginning and double check all of the alignment parameters.
Cottage industry of phono stage?
It may be easier, and shorter, to list the one's that aren't built by cottage industry dudes. ;-)
Time for new used cartridge
If the OP is intent on moving to another cart, then I would agree to follow Doug's and Thomas's advice if the purchase of the next cart depends on funds from the sale of the Dyna. I can't offer suggestions on re-selling 'cuz I will not buy a used ...
Time for new used cartridge
Fixed price. And that is what it comes down to. The repair Soundsmith was probably 1/4 the cost of sending it to Dynavector. Sure, it is a bit different than a stock xv-1s. However, I would speculate that it is 95% of stock and I think it has a be...
Status of the Cartridge Database
Thanks, Ed. The CDB has been a valued source for all of us for quite some time.
Time for new used cartridge
I concur with Mingles. The xv-1s is a very good cartridge. You can find different carts, but not necessarily better IMO. Peter did my XV-1s a few years back. I've been very pleased with the results.
Phono stage for tube system - recommendations?
Richard, I can see that happening with the other things going on pretty soon.
Phono stage for tube system - recommendations?
At least one of the competitors that Palasr mentions was my Doshi Alaap. IIRC, Richard's K&K held up very well for overall presentation. The Alaap was a much larger sound overall. We both felt that it was a difference mainly in power supplies....
Help. Wife says Teres 340 Is too bright.
I had a feeling there may be something like involved. In our case, it was our youngest son. Keep your sense of humor and your hobby(ies). They will serve you well.Best of luck to you.

That is awesome!Wifey: "Honey, it just doesn't sound right. You need your own dedicated room to help get the sound right."If you ever get tired of that woman, give me a ring. I mean, I have one like that already, but in this hobby one can never ha...
New To Vinyl... Seeking Recomendations
Not to insult you, Scott, but how well can you set up your new rig? If you can't maximize the performance of your analog front end it won't matter much what you put on it. Software is important but having the tools, skills, and know-how make even ...
stillpoint question
I have used them in this manner to offset the penalties of using a granite shelf. From top to bottom: 'table, aluminum plate shelf, stillpoints, granite. They are tapped with 1/4-20 threads so it is easy to do. Be sure to get the inverse risers so ...
Help. Wife says Teres 340 Is too bright.
Yes, but as you say, Maril, it is more than just extra watts.I've tried the same with my 110+ db horns. Almost to the point of having one SET channel per driver. I find I get much more presence and presentation with the Lectron. I do have another ...
Help. Wife says Teres 340 Is too bright.
It is possible she just doesn't like the new sound. After all, many people do not like hearing more resolution. I think it is what they would call "musical".There is no way any Teres is step back from a Scoutmaster, and probably any other VPI.
Phono stages belong to which tier?
Doshi Alaap, tier 1+. Oh! Sorry. The Alaap is not on your list. I've heard it next to Aesthetix, Manley, and Raul's Essential and several others.
