Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter Nsgarch, I hope you get the chance to try an arc-protractor and even better, a MintLp protractor. A good look and it is easy to see why there are much better tools available. Whatever works for you. :-)
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter Hello again. I realized that with the SME slide mount you can set effective length easily. I suggest people draw themselves a picture so that the relationships between these distances become clear. Also, I suggest researching arc-style protractors...
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter Table/arm. P2s and effective length are not dependent on the cartridge used.Setting P2S is the responsibility of whoever mounted your arm, quite possibly the 'table manufacturer. So, yes, I can see the need to measure this ONCE when having a protr...
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter That's the point! With an arc-style protractor made for the table/arm combo, there is no need to measure P2S. If you hit the arc, you have the dimensions set. So just finish up with the cart alignment.
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter It is merely the difference between an arc-style protractor vs. the others that rely on a multi-step process. With an arc-style that is made for a specific effective length and P2S, there is no need to do the extra steps like checking overhang. Th...
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter Yes, accurate. To be correct I should comment on the basis of precision. Here is where I find the DB to come up short.Thanks.
Alignment tool for SME V + Shelter That is a lot of "accurates" attributed to the DB, which at best gives a close approximation of what will playback vinyl. :-)You can easily hear the difference between 1/2 mm off and being even less, off.
Which cleaning solution do you use in you RCM? STEAM! Followed by a little AI rinse. I am finding that with steam cleaning there is very little if any need for an enzyme cleaner.
TriPlanar Tips I was wondering if that might happen with the wires twisted together. Did you braid them all together or in +/- pairs? To my mind this tweak is more for mechanical damping. Maybe just a loose twist of all four to keep them together and make a stif...
Graham Phantom vs Triplaner Yes, Koukonen. Folks who own the CD seem to be very happy with this release and I expect good vinyl from Jorma. I missed Hot Tuna last year when they came around. Thanks for the tip on Buddy and Jr.!
Graham Phantom vs Triplaner Seriously, and just on a layman's observation, the application of damping is different in that the unipivot-based design dampens in close proximity of the pivot bearing and the TP damping is farther down the arm toward the cart. Obviously differen...
Graham Phantom vs Triplaner Grasshopper! You have plucked the pebble from my palm! :-):-)I agree. It's complicated and I'd rather just listen. I just picked up Jorma's River of Time but haven't had the chance to light up my system for more than a week. I'm shaking like a big...
Graham Phantom vs Triplaner But what about the gold trim, Syntax? :-) Should we also pull the Vector into the discussion about fluid damping? As far as I know, the TP is the only one of these arms that can actually play very well with no damping fluid. But I wouldn't extend ...
TriPlanar Tips Hi Mike! Nice to hear from a fellow edgarhorn-er. ;-)Thanks for that bit of verification. I fell back to the shrink wrap after deciding not to try to force the tiny screws, and more importantly for me, did not want to give up the finger lift. Nice...
Graham Phantom vs Triplaner Can I answer with another question? Why do Graham arms have damping around the bearing? |
