Bi-Amping Possibility, which direction ?
I would try bi-amping without a crossover first. Use the coax to the threshold and balanced to the pass. Then, switch to balanced for the threshold and coax to the pass. See how it works before you knock it.....then tell us what is lacking. Your s...
Follow-up to my alien aduction-like anecdote.
Put the bong away.
Please help Problem with Rega P3 belt "rolling".
Are you sure the platter is seated correctly? It may be sitting a little higher than it should-a fraction of an inch will cause the belt to climb.
Your Preference U24, Xitel, M-Audio or Edirol ???
I hated my M-Audio. It was junk.An external unit with a seperate power supply should perform better than an internal card.If you can find one with coax digital out to the DAC, that may be a little better. Most are toslink???
Home Theatre in-ceiling speakers?
I like Paradigms!
Alternative after Soundlab. Horns? Heil Tweeters?
Cats love grill cloth. That rules out 80% of the speakers out there.Horns are tough at near field. They tend to need more space.Wall hung Martin Logans with a metal grill may do it? This would be my choice.Piegas have metal grills???Finally, what ...
Tube Characteristics
Not too many EL34 amps will have enough to drive big maggies? Even 4 tubes per channel (80-100 watts) is barely enough to get them going. Using a basic 40wpc EL34 amp probably will lack bass. I would suggest biamp or use a sub....
Dynaco Panor PAS-5R Tube Line Stage Pre-amp
If Panor is building it like the rest of the Dynaco reissues, it should be great! The amps they have built over the past 10 years have been quite well built and sound great.
Center to match Energy Veritas 2.3i's?
I agree with Kenn. If you know what you are doing and your amp can handle it, use both 2.2's for the center. I did this with soliloquy sat-5's running the centers parallel-I knew my amp could handle 4ohms easily (two 8ohms in parallel=4ohm load). ...
Questions about biamping
You won't need a crossover. However, you will need to have gain control on at least one of the amps. Even though stated wattage is similar, they won't be identical with gain in output vs volume gain. If it were me, I would set the volume to about ...

Help Speakers trapped on bookshelves
Some very nice small speakers are designed for bookshelves (Soliloquy, Linn, Kef all make some). You may do better with these. I would never use a rear ported speaker on a bookshelf. Front ports may work.My biggest suggestion if you insist on keep...
What can I expect in a UPS damage claim?
They paid me on a crushed Nak Dragon. I did have insurance and had double boxed it up to their required packing standards. Many times, original packing is not sufficient for shipping. You also may want to inquire about other claims on the same rout...
Would an Audiofile really download music?
Can an audiophile own an MP3 player? I can't really work out with a 70 lb tube amp on my back. My ipod doesn't burn me either.
Question for you Audio Buffs...
You should keep everything "voiced" the same to have a great sound field. If it were me, I would use either 1 or 2 matching Niles for the center. In my opinion, a $400 niles will sound better than many $1000+ speakers that don't match.
