Dennis Had FIRE 300 B tube SET @isaacc7 A very well written and well informed post I've enjoyed Cary gear from the Dennis Had era and I have no doubt his current amps sound good paired with appropriate speakers.

A fine realization Dan congratulations man a hifi that makes your ears smile is what it's all about. Cheers!
Why Can't Modern Tube Manufacturers Make a Proper Tube? Noromance nailed it lots of the materials and processes used to make tubes back in the day are illegal now and horrible for the environment. There's no going back for very good reason.
Midrange Increasingly Harsh I concur that tubes are the place to start looking, 5 years is a fairly long time for power tubes if you're listening with any frequency.
Good streamer that does not need wi-fi or internet to play local files I can use bluetooth to stream music to my Auralic Aries G1 when the internet is out, I stream from Qobuz as my local files are on a NAS. Not exactly what you’re looking for but it is useful to me in a wifi outage.

What Horn loaded speaker/ speaker system for $10k'ish and under I've heard and liked Volti and also Charney Audio both have speakers in your price range.
I'm going to buy my first tube amp. I need honest blunt opinions The Jadis looks like a good choice and one thing to keep in mind when looking at a pushpull 300B amp is the massive retubing costs!
The mistake armchair speaker snobs make too often Erik I understand vertical integration very well but you missed my main point if it made so much sense and so much more profit why do so few speaker makers make their own drivers? Because it's difficult and expensive to do, vertical integration m...
KT-77 vs. KT-66 @hilde45 I am still a bit baffled by this he says not to use EL34s but you can use KT66 and 6L6 but also KT88s and KT150s?
The mistake armchair speaker snobs make too often @erik_squires I still don't get it why would it be cheaper to make your own drivers vs buying them? And if it's so much cheaper why don't more speaker makers do it? I think its likely more expensive at least until you've amortized your startup cos...
Cabasse 320 m3 Sloop Power Amp...compatibility question It won't hurt them no, it may not drive them to your complete satisfaction but the only way to find out is to try it. |
