Beatles vs. Stones @unreceivedogma - the scene that sticks out most for me was when they are all around the mic doing the 'Woo! Woooo!'s in the background for 'Sympathy'.
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus @sejodiren - and I worked in the local wholesale record business at the time, so one of our local WEA reps (Bam Bam!) also got me a Warner Brothers live U2 promo-only album; I think that's pretty rare these days.
Solo sucess Phil Collins remained with Genesis while also doing his solo career; he did not split from the band.
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus @sejodiren - I saw U2 on that first tour as well, at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco; they played 2 shows in one night; I got to stick around for both.
Ripping CD's to hard drive @m_j_s - totally agree; I can certainly tell the difference between an .mp3 and a ripped CD, and it's a big difference, at least on my system.
A SHOCKING DISCOVERY ABOUT DIGITAL AUDIO I thought doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is called 'practice'. Never understood that quote, and was it really said by Albert Einstein?
Mini Review: Herron VTSP 360 (ESP) I've tried the polarity switch on both my Herron phono preamp and my line state preamp, and if there was any difference, I couldn't tell. For some people's houses, it might make a difference, though. Wonderful gear, though!!
Beatles vs. Stones @bigtwin - Yes, that Rolling Stones film was by Jean-Luc Goddard, if I recall correctly?
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus With all those entries, it's a shame there's no measurement of distortion, too, or the measurements can be misleading as far as the subjective experience.
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus Some of the ones that had my ears ringing for days were in no particular order, Grand Funk The Cars (Panorama tour - everything cranked to 11!) Ministry The Killers (everything super-loud and super-distorted) The Verve (everything super-loud...
Better story teller than Edmund Fitzgerald? @larryi - 'And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda' was by the Skids, no?
Gary Rossington RIP First saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at their first really big show, opening for the Who on the Quadrophenia tour on the first night of the tour in San Francisco. Always really enjoyed L.S. RIP Gary...
Why do we stop listening to new music as we get older? @frankmc195 - I think you are probably right; I'm 71, and my tastes are VERY different from most people I know in my age group, who like those jazz/nice music things that I don't like or that put me to sleep. I got about another 20 years or so be...
Beatles vs. Stones I think Sgt Pepper was great when it came out, and it still is; love every song on there. Can't say the same for every Beatles album.
Novice needs opinions for new system Just wanted to say that I've always used my 2-channel music system for my TV's sound.... My gear is Holo May DAC, Herron Audio preamp, and MSB power amp into (currently) Fritz Carrera BE's.... |
