HAVE YOU ARRIVED AT YOUR FINAL SYSTEM AND WHAT’S IN IT? WHAT ARTIST IS YOUR GO TO? @hilde45 PLUS ONE
Interesting videos about sounds and music @mahgister - you may be right, but what does education have to do with liking or not liking jazz? As for hating music, I agree - I don't see the point; people can listen to what they like and avoid what they don't - it's not difficult. People lik...
Burn in vs perception @ozzy62 - in your case, I'd say both the amp's electronics and the tubes need breaking in; in my experience, tubes mostly sound at their best after at least 100 hours. You've probably got a good bit of improvement left to look forward to....
Somewhat of an oxymoron - speaker stands for the floor for bookshelf speakers. Different speakers are designed for different stand heights; while there is indeed a 'rule of thumb', there is no 'one size fits all' best speaker height for all standmounts. For instance, I've got a pair of Martens that are very high on their sta...
Tube sound is not about warmth. It's about correct presentation. @mahgister + 1 - as soon as I see 'all' or 'no' in regards to some category of items like 'tube amps' or 'ss amps', I dunno - just doesn't make sense to me.
Why is so much music recorded out of key? Doesn't bother me and I doubt I'd be able to tell; these are not quizzes or tests, just music that one either enjoys or does not.
Tube sound is not about warmth. It's about correct presentation. What does 'correct presentation' mean?
Two questions to make you mad. They didn't make me mad. 😄
At what price is one considered an Audiophile. It would depend on who is doing the 'considering'. I wouldn't worry about it too much and just enjoy yer tunes....
Speakers versus Balance vs Amplifier @hickamore - most hearing aids have multiple programs, or different EQ settings, for different circumstances. This will be given names, sometimes like 'music' or 'hi-fi' or some such. How accurate the names are remains to be seen or heard. Whichev...
Heavy Vinyl Speakers Corner from Germany makes some excellent all-analogue re-issues that look completely authentic; I got their versions of BOC's 'Tyranny and Mutation' and 'Secret Treaties' and they are superb. They don't sell direct, though - you have to b...
Heavy Vinyl @tablejockey - 'Second Winter' was on 2 LP's - one side of one LP was blank.
Heavy Vinyl @vair68robert - A tribute to John Fahey? I didn't know such a thing existed; that must be quite the endeavor - I'm trying to imagine how you'd 'interpret' John Fahey without being him! I will look into this, thanks...
Real or Surreal. Do you throw accuracy out the window for "better" sound? I do know what sounds better to me. I do not know how true it is to what the artist, the producer, the mixer, and the mastering engineers laid down, as I was not there for any recording sessions so cannot make a comparison.
Has Anyone Else Listened to Carina Round? I wouldn't have thought there would be vineyards in Arizona - maybe that's why it was terrible? 😁 |
