Impedance Matching Question
George, thank you very much for your additional comments. I was already leaning toward not getting the Burson cable. I have found that the Polk Audio RTi A3 is on closeout for $240/pr, so not much more than the cable. It got an excellent review in...
Impedance Matching Question
atmasphere - thanks for your additional info, made an inquiry to Rolls about the bandwidth, but have not heard back. The box, RCA's, solder, and assemble would be no problem, however getting the proper transformer is beyond my expertise.George - t...
speaker distortion
If they are 90’s vintage McIntosh, my guess would be that the woofers need to be refoamed or reconed. This is a common issue for many different speakers from the 90’s. Do they have removable front grills? If so, visually inspect to see if the foam...
some one tell me.........
Is the CJ a "PV12" or "PV12L"? If it is a PV12, that input has an extra gain stage and is for phono only. The PV12L has the AUX input. If yours is the PV12, then use a different input.reubent is correct, The Oppo does have a variable volume out, w...
Impedance Matching Question
astelmaszek - thanks for your reply. That’s an interesting looking device and definitely appears that it would work, however probably more than I want to spend in this situation. atmasphere - and thank you for your reply. I’m not concerned with el...
Where do I go from here?
Bi-amping should be avoided unless it is done properly. This means you would need to bypass the speaker’s internal crossover, and use an external line level crossover. Just go back to your original hookup, like the one I stated in my post. Also, f...
Where do I go from here?
IMHO, you have your best amplifier driving the surrounds and center. Have you ever used the RMB-1565 for front, center, and surrounds, with the RKB-650 driving the surrounds backs? This should be better for 2 channel music as well. The Motion 20’s...
How much power can a pair of Klipsch La Scalas take ?
La Scalas with 250 watts available.Loud!!! And lots of it.
Auditioning Magnepan MMGi's and 1.7i's (and possibly the 3.7i's) on Monday
"The woofer simply can handle only so many watts of power before it starts to clip (don’t worry, I’m not frying them)."I agree with mcreyn. If you have encountered any problem with the current Onkyo/Mirage setup, the issue is the speakers are under...
To bridge or not to bridge ?
Have you tried both of the straps (+ and -) installed?
How to check a speaker is Genuine or Fake
As well as I remember, the fake brand that was sold from the white van was Kirsch. Obviously to fool people that didn't know the correct spelling for Klipsch.
Cassette Deck Repair
Due to it's age, it likely needs a good refurbish. Then at the very best it might be worth close to what that will cost. Unless you have some sort of emotional attachment to this deck, I would find another way to accomplish the background music.
Dynaco A25 -Hard to Believe
"I liked those old acoustic suspension speakers like AR, Dynaco, Advent, etc that dominated the 60’s."Actually, the Dynaco A25 was not an acoustic suspension, not a typical ported cabinet either, but the cabinet did have a vent. It was not sealed.
Sound bar in a box . . . can't understand dialog.
ifmywordsdidglowGuess you’ll just have to be surprised and wrong. I know for a fact my Vizio has passive radiators. It’s a 2.0 soundbar having 2 - 2 3/4 in drivers and 2 passive radiators. I doubt the owner’s manual is wrong.DanIf the dialog is di...
Sound bar in a box . . . can't understand dialog.
elevickSorry to disagree, but I doubt his soundbar has ports. My Vizio is about 1 1/2 years old and it has passive radiators, as did all the ones in that series. Not sure about the very latest ones, but if they did have ports, I doubt he could get...
