New Dedicated Line - Almost No improvement
Any serious audio geek owns a home with a stream you can dam up for your own hydro power...a small nuclear plant also works but be wary of sensitive neighbors.
Less Is Really More - Schiit's New Yggdrasil DAC - Less Is More
Yeah...Bifrost 2 upgrade for 300 bucks with 4 converters to make it balanced and mo betta...you pop it in and use a mini card to set it up.

I have a Bifrost 2 and just ordered the upgrade thing. Weeks...gotta wait weeks...
Speaker positioning and center image depth
Simple fact: All speakers have a different "in room" response. My issue is with the overcomplicating of setup os it chews the fun out of your gum (Richard Julian line). Get a pair of Magicos and maybe the shop will come over and set ’em up for you...
Speaker positioning and center image depth
As a long time professional musician and live sound engineer I’m nothing if not meticulous about the tonal aspects of my system, including soundstaging, bass response and any other speaker placement issues. The main listening room treatment is acc...
Speaker positioning and center image depth
Do people really need this much coaching when it simply should be: Move your speakers around until they sound good to you. The end.
Speaker polyamory -- or, stories about getting a second set to alternate with your primary
Weird use of the word "polyamory." If you’re that close to your hardware you may need a little more time with your shrink.
Speaker positioning and center image depth
Too much speaker depth and you could fall in and disappear. Hey man...stranger things have happened...also, if you can't deal with ports (seriously...what percentage of speakers have ports?) and actually think they're hard to deal with you really ...
Go get out your pitchforks, I’ve done a sacrilegious thing. . .
As an early Loki enthusiast I have 2 of 'em (original and "+"). Great and absolutely transparent bit of gear, one for my TV rig and another for headphones and general EQ when needed in my main hifi system. Although the "Max" isn't cheap I bet it's...
The new dynamic in speaker pricing
I have a smallish pro horn sound system set up in my studio that I've actually used for a "live event." So, if you want the sound of a live event, just get some well designed P.A. speakers and save the hundreds of thousands for something else.
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.
I use an original series Freya (no "+" but hey...I don’t care, and with the original you can snap back and forth between the tubes and passive without shutting the tubes off, which I like. Adjust the level of course.) into a Pass XA-25. Sublime, a...
Audio stops pain
I've been a musician for decades and a "classic" migraine sufferer since I was a kid...it gets better as you age so no biggie now...but music will not, never will, never has, and absolutely can't help soothe actual migraines...whoever claims other...
Need an integrated amp that sounds engaging at lower volume
Every good amp sounds weak at low volume, and if it doesn't it's gonna sound awful at higher levels...boosted bass and treble...no no no (like classic 70's JBL speakers with a response curve like a smile). If you gotta have that "smile" at low lev...
Is it me or new audio gear is too perfect and give ear fatigue?
The 2 amps I use (swapping them from time to time) are a single ended tube amp by Dennis Had and a Pass XA-25, and the remarkable thing is how similar they sound although they're utterly different designs. I dislike distortion or noise from any ge...
The new dynamic in speaker pricing
Wealthy people generally don't care at all about hifi (just like regular folks).
