UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
Amazingly, the Jimi Hendrix of blues was Jimi Hendrix.
Disadvantages of buying old solid state.
I use lots of Schiit gear and it’s not budget per se, simply fairly priced...and better sounding than lots of arbitrarily expensive stuff which seems to demonstrate what things could and should actually cost.
Butcher Block Acoustics
One of the few audio tweaks than can also be used for food prep.
Low Output MC recommendations?
Ortofon Quintet...I own a red and a blue. Simply great sounding MCs.
Best audiophile earwax removal system?
Do not EVER stick a Q tip or anything like it in your ear. Ever. I've been using the ear drops/water blaster bulb system for over 40 years or something and it's the only commercially available thing anybody should use, and it works...it can take a...
UGH...The tired, "BEST" Rock guitarist thread
My favorite quote about shredding guitar players was Zappa, "It's not a pushup contest." I met Hendrix, opened for Zep, blah blah...most moving guitar playing I've ever heard? Jesse Ed Davis was in town (Honolulu) for a while (I actually loaned hi...
Cornwall IV – tube (amp) choice
I have a "high output" Dennis Had Firebottle that has 4 tubes and 12 to 17WPC. He does still make these sometimes and might make one for you if you email him (Ebay mail).
Why Do You Post?
I invite anyone here to join me in the ABL, otherwise known as the Anti Bloviation League. We are here to support brevity.
Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions?
I recently bought a Pass XA25 (an amazingly great sounding amp) that is proving how superb my Schiit Freya actually is. I don't recommend buying a Freya (Freya + now) as although having recently garnered a "Class A" rating it's way too inexpensive...
Why Do You Post?
I post to support my fragile ego by imagining my posts are considered real smart (!), often hilarious, and clearly coming from someone extremely good looking and tall-ish.
You know you have audiophile system when...
An audiophile is anyone willing to bore the crap out of anyone else (i.e. most people) who isn't particularly interested the audio gear/high end sound hobby.
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
Coherence. It has to sound good from top to bottom, and it has to be in my listening room where my ears might be...and my listening room is not treated by anything other than normal room items so it sounds like a cool room, not anechoic, dsp synth...
Inexpensive Good Vintage Turntables?
Linn Basik...I have one with the Akito arm...superb (especially after putting a Jelco arm cable on it). Hard to find but generally can be inexpensive.
Tekton versus Klipsch
My Klipsch Heresy IIIs are amazing...makes me wonder if they imbued the "Capitol Records 75th Anniversary" version with some extra mojo (doubtful), but I tried the Heresy IVs well into break-in and they had upper mid frequency anomalies that irked...
Pass INT-25 better than Wilsenton R8?
I use an original version Schiit Freya with a newly acquired Pass XA25...both of 'em are virtually noiseless and sound astonishingly good (best I've heard in a home audio rig, ever...), and this combo is maybe $1,600 less expensive than an INT25. ...
