I was getting low-balled on a Jelco tonearm. So I closed the ad. Glad I did. It's now worth double what I paid as the factory closed..
Ever change your mind?
I put a tube integrated amp up for sale because I bought something else. So after getting a couple nibbles, I thought I better make sure everything is still ok with it since it hadn't been in the system for a couple of months. Wow....it sounds so good. The main reason I wanted to go with something else is because the system was in a smallish room that tended to be hot anyway and the tubes just added too much heat. (I've since moved everything to a much bigger, more open space.)
It's amazing how much bass this thing gets out of my Maggies. I had to check to make sure I didn't plug the subs, Anyway, has anyone else had second thoughts at the last minute? Mostly, I am just trying to recoup some of the cost of the new piece. Not sure if I am trying to talk myself into still selling it or keeping it. LOL
Back in '97 or '98 I had a Mesa Baron to try out for a weekend and I was pretty much going to trade my little Cary SLA 70 in for part of the purchase price, but the last thing I did the Sunday night before I was going to close the deal was to hook the little Cary back up & listen to Cowboy Junkies (Sweet Jane) from The Trinity Sessions. I chose to keep the Cary & not buy the Mesa Baron. |
+2 to what @mesch mesch and @immatthewj said. Three (3) different amps I sometimes regret selling. While it enabled me to go with my existing mono amps, still miss those too. Hang on to it for as long as you can, never know, might change your mind by simply doing what immathewj did. |
Yes, happens quite often. Like you, I sold things to help offset the cost of something else, as this stuff is not cheap however, there are certain things I wish I hung onto. There have been times I got cold feet selling something on Ebay, despite having like 10 watchers...still ended up pulling the plug on the listing and keeping it. Recently, it was a fully automatic new in the box Thorens td240 turntable. I own many turntables, but none of them are fully automatic. I had it plugged in to test it out, and it is truly fascinating to watch it in operation. It is a very elegant looking turntable as well. I’m happy I kept it hanging around. Sold some other things only to buy them back again. I guess the moral is to follow your heart. |
@decooney and I still have The Little Cary! It sure was nice to have it to fall back on when The Big Cary went down a couple of years or so ago. |
Not really. The new stuff does things I want (room correction, bass management etc.) And when I hooked it back up it sounds sublime. I was just reminded that the tube piece also sounds amazing. Whoever buys it was get a killer deal. And that's not meant as free advertising. It's not listed here. Anyway, it's fun having stuff to compare. I'm going to eventually try a couple other pairs of speakers that are in other systems too. |
