"Better" "Best" , all very subjective terms. I can say that for me, the Heresys, checked all the boxes . High sens. , dynamic, sealed box, compact, can be close to wall, low freq output does not over lap room mode..... easy to integrate with sub. All of the above factor into how great these really sound in my room...
Most fun I've ever had with a new component... rediscovering lots of cds and records
I've found that a pair of recently acquired Klipsch Heresy IIIs are much better than I expected (not sure what I expected in my house, but I did force myself to listen to a pair at a dealer before before buying these damn things) and since many haven't heard them since 1957 and might think, as I did, that they're an anachronistic old fashioned pile of beatnik era "hornist" crap, you may find they're pretty friggin' great. Or maybe you're DEAD INSIDE
It's not a must but they certainly sound best in corners as the design intended. When I had other speakers in room using the corners wasn't an option and they still sounded very good no matter where I put them. A very placement friendly speaker!
Audio Note speaker owners...ANE line. Is it a must to have them in corners. Seems so, but I cannot accommodate this. Beautiful sounding speakers for sure.
If there is a 'best'... I look at what would be on the short list.
Another vote for Classic Audio Loudspeakers. 98 db 1 watt/1 meter, 16 ohms, 20Hz (honest) to 35Khz). Optional field-coil powered woofers and midrange; first breakup at 35KHz so very smooth and very fast.

Have Zu Definition IV, and with the right electronics [tubes] they make music. Will say that with any hi-eff speakers you have to clean up the AC a bit. Actually, I'm in love with them but hate to do the fanboy thing.
I'm very happy with my single-driver Omega Super 3i Monitors. Fantastic speakers at their price-point. Efficiency is 94.5 dB at 8 ohms and they're mated right now with an inexpensive Chi-fi (3.5 wpc) SET integrated. A Decware SE84UFO (2 wpc) is in my immediate future.
Paradigm are very efficient at 93-94 sensitivity. Not as high as Klipsch but way better sounding, they are a great speaker, sound great and like playing loud.
I have Zu Definition 4s and like them a lot. I drive them with a 300b SET. I have also heard and liked the Audio Note AN-E. There is an online commentary about high efficiency speakers: http://www.high-endaudio.com/RECENT.html#Nov
Charney Audio! Have owned a pair of Maestros 100db (Omega RS7 driver) for over a year and I’m still amazed at what I hear. Clean open 3D presentation with deep articulate bass to boot. Beautiful to look at and wonderful to listen too. Charney also builds Lowther 103db and Voxativ 103db based Companion and Concerto that are a clear step up form the Maestro. Each of the tractrix theory designed horns play well above anything out there in respected price ranges...go listen at Charney in NJ well worth the trip!
I am driving my Heresys with a pair of 40 watt mono amps and it is more than enough power to play louder that you could endure for any length of time..... I don't really play it loud, but the dynamics and effortlessness to drive allow pretty much any amp .
The Klipsch are also full, dynamic, and fun to listen to.
Did anybody who listen above mention LS can say about tendency high efficiency loudspeakers to make thinner sound ( i dont mean lower bass) compare to traditional 3 way speakers? Thinner sound especially made piano sound smaller and man vocal also
I own a pair of Zu Audio Omen Def. At 100dB, these speakers are very easy to drive. Sound wise they rock the house! They have temper and attitude; I wouldn't call them "accurate" or "transparent", but rather full, dynamic and fun to listen to.
I own a tekton and have spent time with super high efficiency and expensive horns (but not klipsche). I find them all very forward sounding like hearing music out of a pa speaker. Not my cup of tea.
The best is a question only you can answer after hearing several different speakers. I have owned a number of stand mount speakers that were fine, accurate , sounded just like the recording .... but that's the problem... they sounded like a recording
And then I did something unconventional and out of character for me.... I bought a pair of Klipsch Heresy III
These speakers are awesome.... the scale and weight of live music is possible in my living room.... I have never had more fun listening to music than with these speakers. I am driving them with a pair of 40 watt EL 34 mono amps and am blown away at how great they sound.
I don't know what is the best. IME... I've been using Lowthers for many years though & really like them. They are very 3d (with the right amp), transparent, & throw a huge deep stage. Mike are in fidelio cabinets. If you go that route you'll want to incorporate a sub into your system though.
