SL-1200 G Power cable

The stock cord is fine! No need to obsess over a TT's power cord.

TT uses very little current and does't have large current need changes like an amp.  Your amp will need a heavy power cord and should not be restricted by the Niagra 1200.  TT is fine as is.

I had the same problem with my SL1200G. I had a short Shunyata IEC extender which allowed me to plug it into the turntable connector and used a Shunyata Copperhead power cord for the power.  I had both in my cable drawer so I figured what the heck.  I have had it that way since 2018. 

I felt like an idiot posting this thing in the first place, but the arrangement of the power & other connectors should have been changed years ago.  It wouldn't take much to knock that ground wire off, and for any of these hookups it's easier just to turn the thing on its side.  No one wants to do that. 

Agreed. I had to prop up one side of my G with a stack of books to get the cables properly seated. 

@howardlee , @ericsch , Same here, a real PITA.  I believe the newer models have them on the back of the plinth.

@stereo5, I got mine in November.  Unless there's been something I'm unaware of, mine is a new model!

This is exactly why I think it makes sense to use a quality aftermarket power cable on the 1200G/GAE.  The power cord is in such close proximity to the phono cables, I have to think that high quality shielding on both cables is critical.  I use a Shunyata Venom digital cable to power the deck.  I don't think it impacts motor performance in the slightest but it should minimize noise/interference.
