Last Chance Texaco-Rickie Lee Jones. Especially when I saw her at the outdoor Mt. Winery amphitheater in Saratoga, Ca recently. She played past the noise curfew and the sound system was turned off with another minute to go in the song. She finished it unamplified under the moonlit night sky and I don't think a single person in the crowd took a breath for that last minute. Sublime. |

To me, Bob Dylan's 'Simple Twist of Fate' is the ultimate song. I'm not saying its my favorite musically, but the lyrics are incomparable to anything I've ever heard in my life. I could have pasted the entire song. There's no match for his genius. Again, he's not my favorite yet I cannot deny his absolute amazing genius with spoken word.
You have to seriously listen to Bob Dylan. He's not good back ground music. |

Dylan stands alone against any backdrop. However, I finally shut a woman up one time by responding ' yea, he's great. But he did lots of shitty stuff too'. She happened to walk in when I had Dylan on my portable system on a job I was working on. She started ranting about how great he is, talking over the music. It was Blood On The Tracks:) |
First thought was definitely "A day in the life", but absolutely nothing by the Allman Brothers. I don't think they have any idea how to end a song. |
Sweet "Love is Like Oxygen", of course the ending to me is where the song just gets interesting. In other words, it ends way too soon. |

I don't know if this is the best ending but it is one of my favorites.

It always brings a smile to my face and is unique to me I can't think of a song where they spell out the song title to end it. The laugh and cash register bell ring are the cherry on top to the ending IMO too. |
