6000 dollars CD player

I am planning to buy CD player with out SACD , classical music as main listen ing.  Components are Accuphase C2850. + A47+Harbeth SHL 5 ,40th.  I like reliable, trouble free gear with good CP.

Thank you for your kind concern. Due to Accuphase DP Player 570 was in shortage supply then. I bought Estoric K03XD last year.

It cost US$11,000.

The sound is pretty good. When I play with Accuphase C2850 + A47 + Harbeth super HL 5 (40th), it can produce pleasant and more live like sound after 2 and half hours listening.

Realize this is an older thread and SACD in focus - but as a side note, I would look for a used Spectral SDR-4000 CD player, either the SV or SL. They are $20K new but I see them used in the $6K-$7K range. If you have a large CD collection, you will be glad you did - it makes standard Redbook CDs sound incredible. I heard one a few years back compared to a full four box dCS SACD stack - same disc, same amp, same speakers and cables - and that single box sounded better to everyone in the room, and I bought the demo unit that same day.  To be fair, dCS has likely improved their technology since then, and I had never heard anything better than dCS sound quality up to that point. But given the vast price difference, the Spectral was/is a great value.

We would buy 2 Rotel cd14 CD players, and a Rotel cd1572 CD player. And search for a couple pio elite dv-79avi, and a dv58 or 59 as well.
Still have cash for music and beer.
That’s me. 6K is a boatload of money.
The Bryston is a wicked player as well, and still have a couple K to buy music or cables.

I listened to the Estoric N-05XD on dealer's site together with Brumeister 077 pre, Accuphase A46 and Brumeister speaker  B18.
The sound of Beggar's Opera (2nd song in CD of the streaming in Harmonica Muti), the guitar is sweet, good shape, project a scale in it's size, detail with air finish.  And then, change the N-05xd to Estoric K03xd which said to use the same DA. But the sound is different as you can aware.  I make a phone call to the distributor, the engineer staff said that though the DA is the same in structure, but the parts is a bit different and the K03XD is older products. The N05xd is brand new. That makes the difference in sound reproduction. The price of the 2 difference around US$2000.  Certainly , I prefer N-05xd sound more. But since I am short of CD player, I might be forced to take CP value into consideration.

You could not go wrong with Accuphase or Esoteric. Keep me posted.

Happy Listening!
faust168

are you still looking into Accuphase? Another brand?

Happy Listening!
The distributor told me they are running out of stock.  And next production is unknown for short of parts such as semi conductor,Maybe.

Excellent! Looking forward to your report on the DP-570.

Happy Listening!
I ask local Accuphase Distributor to lend DP-570 for home listening test. Still wait for the arrangement for I can do test on weekends only.

A number of them are on Qobus, otherwise get a cheap Sony or Marantz used SACD player for the rare occasion.
I did mean a 1TB drive on the InnuOS, apologies
@antigrunge2,

A 1mb hard drive would hold about 5-10 seconds of a song.  Do you really mean 1 terrabyte?
I am at a loss here: get an InnuOs Zenith Mk3 for $4000, rip your 200 Cds to the 1MB hard disc and enjoy CD and streaming at superior quality to any CD Player conceivable. And if you feel adventurous get a Qobus subscription costing the equivalent of 1 CD per month and I guarantee you you won‘t buy nor listen to a CD ever again. Buying a Cd player now is the equivalent to investing in 78rpm vinyl.
That is my big concern. As much as a CD/SACD player may sound amazing, these things costs thousands. It would be awful after spending all that money if a board or laser failed but parts were discontinued.
Out of Marantz, Yahama and Denon, who provides spare parts the longest?
Thanks for the reply, also being fair about the price, no crazy up charge
here!
Wish you success with the brand.

The CD 1.10 is $5499. Can’t disagree it is the better player. I mentioned the 2.10 initially because it has a 32 bit DAC vs. 24 bit. Both are awesome though.  Obviously if all you are doing is playing CDs, the newer DAC is irrelevant.
Wow, just checked your web site.
I'm glad Canor is in the usa.
Is, for spinning CD's, the 1,10 not the better player?

Post removed
The 2.10 has better specs and a better chip. The 1.10 is mechanically the better unit but the DAC doesn't have the incredible specs of the 2.10.

I am the US importer for Canor. Placed my first order with them at the end of December so we are very new to the US.
Don't forget the CD 1,10 , their top player!
Canor from Slovakia, deserve better recognition.
If curious have a look at that cool demo.

A little under budget but a strong value in terms of the quality of the DAC, check out the Canor CD 2.10.  Awesome DAC in it and a good transport.

You could not go wrong with any Accuphase. Even the most discerning Audiophile will agree.

Happy Listening!
Maybe the DP-560 is more in line with the rest of your gear.
Some people claim Accuphase work best together, if that's
true your one step away, synergy is very important.
No experience comparing the two players, possible the shop
owner is correct, the price difference is quite big!
They're introducing the DP-570 now so might get a deal on
an used DP-560...

To:guy545
Tks for the kind introduction.  Some one said, DP-430 is the DP-560 gets rid of SACD, I don't know whether is it true or not.  But one audio shop owner told me that  the CD sound on DP-560 is better than DP-430.
There is a mint Accuphase  Dp 430 for sale on audiogon.
Asking price 3500$,   US version, might be for you ?

Save yourself from the high cost of diminishing returns on the dollar

I finally found a review of the Technics SLG 700 CD/SACD/Network player, TRUE BALANCED @ $2999 in the new HiFPig

Had the Luxman D-06 and wasn’t happy with it: to “plat”, not very musical. For me the best is CEC (with separate dac) and I do like the Ear cd-player by de Paravicini ( with Telefunken tubes). 20 y. ago: I had the  Sphinx Project 32 :an amazing player!  My next , I hope Wavac: I have still the MD 805m. (Monoblocks)Or the Metronome technologie.
Find a dCS P8i.  You can buy one for $4-5k and you’ll have SACD capability and a world class DAC.

Another vote for the Yammy CD-S2100. It seldom fails to elicit the "I can't believe that's digital!" response from my analog-loving audiophile guests. At $3 grand, I absolutely believe it's the sweet spot for price and performance. It boasts an excellent DAC and plays SACDs wonderfully, should the OP eventually see the light in that regard.

Enjoy the tunes.

What you're listening to in a CD player is the DAC, not the transport.   The CD reader is just what you get from a $20 CDROM drive.   Really.

It's the DAC you're listening to.

I run a Tascam CD player because it's a piece of pro gear, and being pro, is more durable and reliable than consumer stuff.  I run an optical line from it to my DAC.  The sonics from the CD player are identical to the same track being played back from my laptop digital files.

But if you've really got $6k burning a hole in your pocket, then you're the kind of guy this industry loves.
No... no... no...

Don’t waste your money on any CD Player - none of which provide the sound quality of one of the better R2R DAC’s with a good CD transport.

There is no CD player that comes close to the sound quality of the good R2R DAC’s - none of which will cost you more than about $2500, if that.

Here’s a thread, which identifies the best / better ones (though, the Schitt Yggdrasil Analog 2 compares quite favorably to most of these in this thread).

https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/some-dacs-i-am-considering-any-thoughts

And... you can always start ripping your CD's to FLAC files on a good server (Bryston BDP 3, etc.) to make access to your music a very convenient exeperience!
If Classical is your aim, there is no CD player I would take, at any price, over the Ensemble Dirondo. I heard it at Munich and it really made magic.

Why not look for a used Esoteric SACD player.  I use a K-05 and love it.  I don't have many SACDs, but it plays regular CDs fantastically!  You will be happy with the fit and finish, I promise.

Else, I would just go with a Marantz transport or something like that to a good DAC like others have suggested.  I like the PS Audio DirectStream DAC, which you can find used for around $3500.
If you are committed to getting a CDP look Brands and Models that have a VRDS
(Very Rigid Disc Clamping System) Transport and Sony KSS Laser.

VRDS was developed by TEAC and is used by the worlds finest CD players like Wadia, Krell, Spectral, DCS, Esoteric, Tascam, and TEAC.
Top of line: full metal,
Middle one: metal-carbon composite hybrid
Cheap one : full plastic.

I would say that Esoteric is your best bet for your budget
Check out - just above your budget

NEO was the best VRDS ever produced

Good luck
All you need is an Audiolab CDT 6000.
The best transport without a DAC no matter the price. Only $549.00
Audio Research's CD6 was the best CDP I ever heard. Find a CD6 ($3K-4K) and send it to ARC to be upgraded to the CD6SE for $1500. Then you have a top-notch CDP and DAC under budget.

Another vote for the Accuphase! I purchased a 1rst gen DP65 22 years ago and to this day it still sounds amazing.
Audio Note UK 2.1x/II seems to be a good fit while keeping within your price range. They offer a range of CDP’s and CD transports in addition to their other components. Check their site for full specs and additional info. They manufacture in house to boot. Happy Listening!
