Best options for active speakers $4k or below?

Want a simple but superb sounding all-inclusive active speaker for my elderly but loud-music-loving mother in NJ. Used is OK!

Thanks!

Alternatively, try Genelec 8030C.A lot depends on how big the room is, of course.
I appreciate the ideas. Thank you. Aside from the Elac, I don't think recording studio monitors are ideal, though.  The speakers would be in a medium sized living room not in near field.  Are these the only options?
KEF has a version of the LS50 that is both wireless and active. That would be my hands-down choice! Partner them with a Bluesound Node 2i and a Tidal subscription!
Look at some used Meridians.  Had a small pair, 2way, amazing sound, clean sound.  Ebay and other places for a good price.  Mine were too beat up on electronics, specifically the RCA input wires internally were broken.
Paradigms active 20's under $2,000 with stands  For more dynamics ( down to 35 hz)
the Paradigm active 40's

If you like the idea of extreme clarity, resolution, and dynamics, I too recommend trying the ADAM S2V's.... I've got the S3H's, which are 3-ways.  They have a digital crossover, and parametric EQ available to you, if that appeals to you.  Many audiophiles don't like that sort of thing.   I love them!  I like the ADAMs better than the Focal studio monitors, although Focals are very nice, and more attractive.  These are not lifestyle speakers with Bluetooth.  They are studio monitors.
I'm running a set of highly modified Yamaha HS-80M monitors on my computer audio system.  I have tested these in my home theater system and they actually are very respectable for a far field monitor, so don't necessarily think that all studio monitors are strictly for "near field".

I have the Adam A77x on my future list for an upgrade from the Yamaha's.  Even though they still use Class D for woofer/mid, they will use a Class AB amp for the tweeters.  Also, they have a higher extension ribbon type tweeter.  I like ribbons better than most metal dome tweeters that are popular in other monitors.  In addition, the A7 line still uses linear power supplies for amps.

The S2V that I recommended is a step up, but it does convert the analog inputs to digital for the internal DSP/EQ.  It's great if you need EQ for slight room correction.  However, the slightly cheaper "A" line might have better transparency.
Dynaudio Focus 20 XD or Devialey Phantoms.
I’ve owned LS50W’s and 3 friends own them based on my recommendations.  You’ll def want to pair it with a bluesound node 2i because the app on the LS50W’s is awful.  The remote control is awful too and works 50 percent of the time.  The reliability of the LS50W’s electronics is questionable.

I would, and did, take Dynaudio Xeo 6’s over the LS50W.  The Focus XD would be better.

The Phantoms are gorgeous, play loud and have great bass but I’d still do the XD’s personally.

Buchardt Audio has some new Actives worth looking at too.

Any active speaker paired with a bluesound Node 2i would work too.  I.E. Dynaudio X14A etc
Thanks for so many great recommendations. Had no idea there were this many options. Dynaudio and Elac are most appealing right now. Gold phantoms just too expensive.
Review Droped onto youTube today ... no first hand experience with the brand but ... from a design standpoint not much would appear to be overlooked ... using a Wave Guide to integrate the High and Mid / Low drivers would be a big plus with many integration innovations handled with DSP.

Go listen to the powered ELACs, take your credit card with you.
It’s going to be very cool when you later find yourself rocking out with mom.
Great sounding active speaker Line would be ATC , would need to buy used, as much as you can afford !!!
I second used meridians! they have been doing active dsp a long time and are very easy to use after set up. The used prices are dirt cheap but and the sound is natural.
Since no one mentioned Salk, I will. High quality manufacturer, smaller company, based in Michigan, well-reviewed, responsive over email or phone, 30 day trial, beautiful to look at. I own some passive speakers and had a great experience with the company owner and products. Be sure to look at some of the veneers he offers, because the active speakers are only  shown in white in the photo, but he has many other options. https://www.salksound.com/model.php?model=PowerPlay%20Monitors
There's some small JBL active that cost $150 at best buy and we use them at work, my daughter uses it to clean house. portable, sturdy, and portable. did i mention they have color options?
