First impressions: Silversmith Fidelium interconnects

I ordered two pairs of Silversmith Fidelium interconnects (from DAC to preamp and from preamp to power amps). I had a feeling the Silversmith would be good as I had already replaced my Clear Beyond speaker cables with the Fidelium speaker cables to great effect.

What can I say.... Jeff Smith must be some kind of cable whisperer! Not only did the interconnects clearly improve on pretty much everything from the first second, but after a few days, they absolutely destroyed anything and everything I have ever tried (and that includes the very expensive but amazing Clear Beyond interconnects). Somehow, the Fidelium interconnects added space to the performance in a very natural way; drive and tempo, but more than anything else heart and soul. Color me impressed!!!!

This must be the steal of the century... I have no idea how Jeff can (or want to) sell these cables for less than $1000 a meter... But who am I to argue with the cable whisperer?!

Congrats!  How did you order them as they don’t even appear on the Silversmith website?

If you use the "contact use" on their website, you can ask about the cables. I know Jeff is still waiting for final packaging details (I think that's what he was waiting for), but he was willing to get a pair of cables out to me. Don't think that I had purchased previously had anything to do with it.

Interesting. I use Fidelium speaker cables and I'm very happy with them.

Not sure I'm up to spending $2k on interconnects.  I've spent too much already.

It's always so very incredible to find something out there that works so amazingly well in ones system for such reasonable prices!!!  Congratulations!!!

@audiojan what do the interconnects look like?  Does he use the same material used for the Fidelium speaker cables?

@sls883  Here’s a user review of the interconnects I found when I was looking for them after reading this thread, and it includes pictures.

@soix thank you.

What the review says is believable to me because I felt the same when I auditioned the Fidelium speaker cables. I had been using decent cables by Synergistic Research so I hadn't expected to hear much difference.

Any info. on "RCA" cables in the future?

I've been using his speaker cables for a few years.  Sound is great but functionality is awful.  In other words, hard to connect to terminals.  My Pass Labs amp, using Furutech binding posts, would not accept his cables.  But, he offers adapters just for that purpose  -  at a cost of course.  Not keen on adding extra connections in loop.

I have both the RCA cables and the XLR cables, both terminated with really nice connectors (his own I think, but I don't know for sure). The cables are basically a ribbon (about 1/4" wide or so) inside of a black mesh, very flexible and very light.

@roadcykler and @tkrtrb125 Not sure what you're trying to say... I'm nothing more than a happy customer that really like the product I purchased. Since there's not a lot of information about these anywhere to be found, I posted my initial impression.

As to the cost, considering that these are less expensive than the cables I have (and what I sell them for used is going to be more than the cost of these), I don't see an issue. And the price to performance ratio is off the chart. Plus, I can afford them.

I've received some PMs asking for the components I use these with:

PS Audio AirStream into a PS Audio DirectStream Sr (Mk1, modified). XLR Fidelium to Luxman CL38uc (with NOS tubes). RCA Fidelium to Coincident Frankenstein MKII (NOS tubes). Fidelium speakers cables to ZU Omen Def Supreme. All setup in a dedicated and treated room.

@audiojan I was not disparaging you, I believe cables can make an improvement. I think it is your choice and only you will know what the cost, benefit is in your system.  It is rather tiresome seeing posts where people denigrate others for their desire to make improvement in their systems using cable upgrades or other tweaks, this is common in all forums.

I've been using the Fidelium speaker cables for a year and half. I recently picked up two set of the ICs both RCA for runs between phono and line stage and line and amps. Love them!

I reached out directly to Jeffrey @ Silversmith.

@curiousjim The other post was deleted, so I'm replying here.

Below is Jeffrey Smith's reply to my email.

Hi Steve.  Thanks for reaching out. I’m thrilled that you are still enjoying the speaker cables. Both the XLR and RCA interconnect cables are ready though, as you noticed, they are not yet on the website.  I’m in the process of finding an assembler to make these for me.  In the meantime, I am making a small number myself for those who are aware and contact me directly.  Prices are the same for RCA and XLR and start at $925 for 2ft.  The common 3ft set is $975 and lengths are available up to 30ft.  The connectors for both are minimalistic, with hollow pins made from alloys that are far superior to pure copper or silver.   Mathematically, the IC foils are about 20% better than the speaker cable foils.

Sonic bargains much appreciated in this rather costly hobby.

Thanks for posting.
