Hello, I was curious as to what other Hobbies or Interests do you have that also take up much of your time, energy and money or is Audio the only one for you? Being a car enthusiast is definitely my first passion. Always reading about new cars and lusting after some classics.
For me, besides my interest in building a Audio System in the past few years, I am also a Car Enthusiast and Amateur Photographer (actually I hate using that term, more like a photo enthusiast because I consider myself a novice). All 3 Hobbies have taken much of my time, energy and money. Sometimes I look back and think, wow, what have I done? Could have saved all that money and time. So I guess I should list my gear if I am talking about other hobbies: Cars:
2016 Mustang GT 6 Speed (weekend car, a few modifications) and 2018 Subaru Forester XT (Daily Driver). Obviously both are performance oriented.

I love to fish for Smallmouth ,Walleye at Dale Hollow Lake . I might add I like to sip bourbon while fishing. A 2005 ford F150 gets me their with ease!
Jay: hiking, mountain biking, attending live music shows once or twice a week, cars (own a Dodge Challenger), reading history oriented books and gardening
Along with listening to my steereo, playing music has always been my first and foremost passion. I play the violin. Banjo. Dobro. Steel string acoustic guitars. Electrics, both single-poled and Humbucker-ed. I eventually had to sell my grand piano but its replacement is a fine early 20th Century Mason-Hamlin upright. For a while I was hooked on still photography. I went deep enough into the hobby to drag a 4x5 field camera outfit (including tripod) on several vacations. Then there are the road racing bicycles. Nothing can top 'em when it comes to beautifully-made precision instruments.... Well, maybe those fiddles.
No time for other interests. Commuting to works wastes 15 hours a week. Work another 40. Maybe some reading and complaining about taxation without benefits and representation. Most money goes on home repairs and property tax.
Besides listening to music I enjoy gardening, bicycling, reading, drinking fine wine and craft brews and in season fishing for bass and northern pike. Fortunately , consuming beverages can be done while pursuing some of my other hobbies.
Woodworking. I have a 3 phase workshop in my basement 911's I have an 06 C4S and a 14 Turbo S. If I hit the lottery I'd get a Singer 911 and an Eagle Speedster along with a lift. I am darn tired of working on jack stands. Bicycling and Skiing. Two years ago we climbed the Stelvio and the Mortirolo. A fractured sternum and 4 ribs ended my mountain biking days. We just got adventure bikes and are going to start exploring the gravel roads up north. Garmin Nav is a must!
Fly fishing and rodbuilding. I've only recently been bit (again) by the stereo bug, during a period when I couldn't build rods. That spurred me to get some of my old audio gear serviced, and to start putting together a second system for the basement. I'll listen to that as I build.
In the number one slot, of course, is music. But many other interests compete for time
--recumbent biking 2-3k miles a year --cross country skiing in the winter (lousy snow year!) --fish keeping/breeding --landscaping --I do enjoy my Civic Type R (not sure what can perform as well overall for the money) --woodworking/carpentry --almost forgot, took up bass fishing the past year
Noromance, it sounds to me you might need an anti depressant, or a slight reorganization of your life. I have patients that work in Boston. They leave here (Southern NH) at 4:00 AM to beat the traffic, go to a gym near work, take their shower and go to work. Then they head back at 2-2:30 and beat the traffic again. They spend an hour commuting instead of two and get their workout in. Not much we can do about taxation except keep the bastards at each others throats so they can't hurt us as much. TERM LIMITS!!!! You have to look at houses as another hobby. I'm OK with property tax as long as it is giving our kids a good education.
My first two autos were a Mercedes and a GTO ragtop so I'm done with cars especially since driving for a living. Currently cheese and Traegering. Cooking simple meals like lobster mac, shrimp & grits and smoked brisket.
@mijostyn I love the look of a diamond frame bike--but that's about it. Recumbent's are a perfect touring machine for long comfortable rides that I do now. Check out the Bacchetta CarbonAero 2.0. It's not a bad machine.
To many hobbies have been my downfall lol, I have been into audio for well over 40 years, also into Bench rest, high power, and air gun shooting, competition BBQ, 1/5th scale radio control cars, enduro riding, biking, four wheeling, and photography. Those $7000.00 dollar camera lens and $5000.00 camera bodies got expensive quick, I ended up selling off a few of my prized audio equipment, Nagra PLP DC powered pre-amp VPA 50 watt amps, and Wilson Watt puppies to fund my photog habit, looking back at all the pictures I took of our family over the years takes some of the sting away from the fact that I had to sell some audio gear.
After beating my body up most of my life with hard physical jobs and athletic type hobbies, I'm not able to pursue that stuff anymore. I'm too damned old, and everything hurts. What doesn't hurt, doesn't work anymore. Here's some of my past hobbies:
Sport Judo. (fought in tournaments)
Motorcycle racing in the Mojave Desert. (Actually was in one race with Steve McQueen. He was fast.)
Weight lifting.
Road cycling. I had a custom frame built in England and outfitted it with all Campagnola Record equipment. The thing was like riding a bicycle made by Ferarri. With the steep frame angles, it was a very quick handling bicycle. Coming down the canyon twisties was a thrill. It truly was a precision instrument. Very stiff frame made from Reynolds 753 tubing. It would beat you up pretty good on century rides, but it was perfect for the daily 30-mile training rides, with lots of tough hills thrown into the mix.
I love motorcycles and bicycles. Now, alas ... it's all in the past.
Now, I read a lot. I love U.S. history, free-market economics, authors from the "Old Right." Into Hayek, Mises, Rothbard, Mencken, Rand, etc.
In today's political climate, a must-read is Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom." It is a mind and an eye-opener. Check it out.

Corelli, ya, ok on the flat but not so hot climbing. We tend to go places to climb like the Stelvio. We have a lot more to do in France and Spain. We have done all the great climbs in the Dolomites. The Mortirolo has an average 10% grade and goes up to 18%. Lance said it was the hardest stage he'd ever done. There is a monument to Marco Pantani about 1/2 way up. It was his favorite stage.
Computers (I build my own), antique radios, amateur videography (especially in support of my wife’s various civic activities; I use Panasonic AG-UX180 video cameras), formerly running (before age caught up with me; I’ve done one marathon as well as a great many middle distance races), French wines, my Porsche Cayman S and Macan S.
The only thing that can get me away from Bach and Mozart is a fishing rod or my deer rifle . But I will have to find time read up the speeches where the person in charge of the coming viral onslaught says he doesn’t believe in Science . He must be right .
Raising a 9 and 2 year old at nearly 50 is a challenge. My wife and I are both working professionals which allows for the occassional hobby purchase.
My latest purchase was a used 2019 Trek Slash with
carbon frame and wheels. The 2.6" wide 29er tires roll over stuff with such ease. A Cadillac CTS V-sport provides spirited driving opportunities on short commutes and family outings. The gun hobby and target practice used to be fun, but CA put a stop to that mostly.
A recent trip to Glacier National Park took us through Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. The space and environment reminded me how different life could be like outside CA.
Panda taxidermy, motorcycle, too many guitars, seemingly fast cars, longboard surfing, automatic watches, relentlessly bullying those who appear to be weak and silly.
Hiking and Photography especially in the National Parks and the Adirondacks. We like to spend at least a week in each National Park and hike and Photograph as many trails as possible. To date, we have visited 37 of the 62 National Parks.

I used to be a car enthusiast when they were easier to work on and everything was not computer controlled. I used to like to tune them with after market carburetors, exhausts, etc. and did all the maintenance work myself. Now, I just drive a sporty sedan (BMW 335i xDrive 6sp manual) to satisfy my car interest.
mmmmm Mike said pork belly! Reminds me, I do love to cook. Barbecue, stove top. Not much for baking. Roasting, yes. Baking, not so much. Ribeye, pork belly, will be on the Traeger tonight!
"Reminds me, I do love to cook" Me too. I have an old, beat-up Napoleon grill that still cooks, and I especially like to put a roast on it. Prime rib, pork loin, anything that benefits from a mix of direct and indirect cooking is fun for me. Steaks, sure -- but I'm more likely to use either a charcoal Weber or iron pan on the stove for those.
