Discharging power capacitors
Thanks for all your ideas, much appreciated.AL
Yamaha? Welcome back!
So, how do the "newest" Yamaha integrateds compare to their 1990 flagship integrated, the DSP-A1, which was the rave of the audio press at the time for Yamaha's build, sound, etc?AL
A/D/S L1290s and PA1
I've tried it both ways, and makes no difference in the sound. I have both 1290/2's and 1590/2's, and have used the PA-1's on both. To me, the sound from those amps is too lean in the midrange, and I sold them. A better way to biamp is with the AD...
Mcintosh MA5100 speaker connection
Have you checked the manual? If you didn't get one with purchase, download one.
How old are your speakers
Bought my ADS 1590/2's in 1985, so that makes them 30 yrs old! Still going strong, and wouldn't even consider getting rid of them!
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
And back to you, George: You're right, I don't like the autoformers in their amps, AND I don't care for their cd players either. However, I don't bash the McIntosh brand, which is what I thought this thread was all about. I love the sound, resale ...
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
This thread is 2 years old now, time to give it up! You either like Mac, or you don't. To each his own opinion. Time to go bash other brands who aren't as successful as Mac, who don't have near enough re-sale value, and may last as long as this wi...
CD Recorder Died - Best Replacement Option?
You might also want to consider HHB 830 Burnit+, or the HHB 850. I have the 830 and have been using it for several years with nary a problem. Prices are quite reasonable too. These are professional units. It also has separate recording levels for ...
Purchasing
Swampwalker and Markpao both make valid points. My twist is a bit different, in that I sold a McIntosh C39 to someone in your country, who insisted it be sent Canada Post. Even tho shipped in Mac's own double boxes, some idiot dropped it on a corn...
Yamaha DSP-A1 Find
For all of you who have a display problem on the DSP-A1, I just found some interesting info on how to fix the display. Get on Google, type in "servicing a Yamaha DSP-A1 Integrated Amp on You Tube" and up will come a fix-it tutorial on how to dis-a...
minimizing glare on TV screen
I have a 55" Panasonic Plasma mounted on the wall, and had the same glare problem. Last week I switched wall mounts to one of the articulating type, and that solved my problem. It can swing 45 degrees in either direction, although I use nothing th...
Yamaha DSP-A1 Find
Fantastic unit, the DSP-A1. I've had mine since they first came out and it's going strong with no problems. Mine is also the Champagne gold with Rosewood side panels. Over the years there have been numerous complaints about problems with the DTS d...
Mcintosh c48 vs classe cp800
I owned a C48 awhile back, and absolutely loved it. I loved the simplicity of the preamp and it sounded great to me. Unfortunately, an un-expected financial problem arose and I had to part with it. BUT, it's on my "buy again" list sometime in the ...
is buying used Mcintosh equipment online bad idea?
I have bought many pieces of Mac here on the "Gon, and even Ebay. I have had absolutely no problems buying used, in fact I can't afford the obscene prices Mac gets for their new stuff, so I have to buy used. Being retired doesn't help either. I wi...
ISO Mac MC 2200 parts
Ebay seems to be loaded with knobs for sale for Mac gear.
