I guess this might be something to consider…
I’d say its a toss up between that laughable Tekton speaker pictured above and the supreme joke of Tralfamador...actually I think the real prize should go to complete system composed of Mac separates with Tektons as the main left and right with Tralfamadors as the surrounds with a phantom center. Anyone support that notion? And now for the real question: Who among you could walk into a room filled with a system like I just described without laughing out loud?

I own(ed) a pair of Tektons, but not their subwoofers.
Decent speakers, some people swear by them. Great bang for your buck. It’s nice that you can get them customized and in any finish you want. Most people who $hit on them usually haven’t even heard them, so bear that in mind. Disparaging a company just seems to be some people’s MO....
I never had any issues dealing with Tekton, they were responsive and timely, so I’d say good customer service. You can either call them, but I found email was the way to go.
I got rid of my Tektons simply because I outgrew them, sonically. I had upgraded my amplification, preamplification, sources, etc....and they just weren’t giving me the sound I was looking for, so I let my son-in-law "borrow" them (probably permanently). He loves them.
Hope that helps.

Call Erik on Saturday morning, He will explain to you whatever your questions. I have Tekton speakers. I like them. I don’t have his subwoofer.
|
Since they are a manufacturer direct company (no dealer in the middle, adding another 50%, 60%, etc to the price tag), their speakers and subs can represent great value.
I had a pair of double impacts inside a larger office room for a while in my former house. I still have their 4-10 subwoofers, currently in storage due to lack of space. It is an excellent subwoofer for music and all other applications.
Echoing another comment above, their customer service is good.

Disregard the morons that disparage Tekton speakers. They have rarely heard them, look at a pic, and rant on about their cosmetics. Well we all can see what they look like so save your worthless commentary.
Here are the facts. Add up the cost of the speaker components and show me one speaker brand that offers more for your dollar. Much more than that, focus on the sound quality that you will get. It is excellent in almost every parameter IMO.
It would help to know more details on your system to offer helpful input. I own the Double Impacts and the Electon SE's. Many would never need subwoofers with either but this will hinge on the specifics of your system.
Eric of Tekton is a polarizing individual. I have always found him helpful. He is a very driven designer. He is also very talented at what he does.
Let us know the specifics of your room and system

I would call tekton he can build you what you want.there are some prominent people who have his speakers.yes they are bang for the buck.he can put the best crossovers you can get he will customize for you.the paint is fantastic.now they do not have furniture grade wood like my kharma, focal utopia,or several screws like my magico q7 but they weren't 30 x the price either.i have woofers he custom made that for sound I would put against the top of the line.he uses high end components if you want beryllium componinents if you want that upgrade.beryllium is light fast and responsive.momentum is mass x velocity and because it is light it's fantastic. I have all his top of the line speakers and find them great.just call him.enjoy the music and the adventure.

It all depends on your expectations and how high your bar is. I briefly owned the original Pendragons a few years ago and recently had a chance to spend a weekend with the Double Impacts. If you want a speaker that can fill a room with sound effortlessly at a relatively inexpensive price, look no further. But if you value imaging, a 3d soundstage and refinement, there are better choices.
No free lunch or giant killers here. For my taste they are only “ok”, but not nearly as bad as some here would lead you to believe.
|
Not sure how those Double Impacts were set up, but in my dedicated audio room I have fantastic imaging and they float a very large and accurate soundstage. They exceeded the Magnepans I had at the time which were quickly sold once the DI's were dialed in.
|
I must say that the ulfberht are fantastic you can have them in beryllium ceramic or normal but they are big in size.read the review done by stero times. Enjoy the search and the music.
|
That’s funny because we put some Magnepan LRS speakers in directly after the tektons and both felt that bass and dynamics notwithstanding, the Maggies were the better speaker. I’m not slamming the DIs, they were competent at everything, just not great.

I've bought from Tekton three times, The Perfect SET, Impact Monitors and some kind of center channel his was selling in ready to ship. Two of the transactions went fine. The Impact Monitor transaction did not. Ordered them with grills. The speakers showed up and the grills did not. It took weeks to get the grills and when they arrived they didn't fit, too short by a fraction of an inch. Let Tekton know and they said they would ship replacements. After bugging them monthly for about 6 months and no replacements ever shipped, I just got a refund on the grills.
So, my suggestion is to not get any Tekton speaker prepped for grills. Eric Alexander still uses pin type grill mounts which suck. He should have converted to magnetically mounted grills 15+ years ago like nearly every other speaker manufacturer has done.
Also, all eight feet receptacles came out of the speaker cabinets when I replaced them with higher quality GAIA feet. Had to use glue on all eight inserts to reinstall them. Not a good look on a pair of $3000 Impact Monitor speakers (they have bunch of factory upgrades).

Tekton is known as much for the cretinous beef it got into with ASR as for its speakers. ASR basically trashed a Tekton speaker and Tekton threatened ASR with legal action. Hilariously Tekton itself brought up evidence during the process that the build quality of that particular speaker was indeed questionable, albeit not for the reasons ASR had written about.
Threatening legal action on reviewers that don't love a product is not a honorable thing to do. It is also quite ill-advised, because it always ends up in PR disaster (yes, social media is a thing nowadays).
Latest in a parade of businesses that also includes dCS is heretofore obscure Tom Evans, maker of a $30,000 garbage phono preamp no one knew about until YouTuber Mend It Mark published a repair video of the preamp in question. Tom Evans judged the video disparaging and bullied Mend It Mark into taking it down. It worked at first (Mend It Mark took the video down), but look it up and see for yourself how well things are working out for Tom Evans now.
Back to Tekton, regardless of whether their speakers are any good, the question is whether you have much appetite to support bullying, intimidation and anti-competitive behavior with your dollars.
My two cents

Is Corelli Carbon Miller?
I’d say the answer to that question is no.

I have never seen a pro/con article in science before? Having been raised by a nuclear physicists that lectured my constantly about controls references ,equasions, experiments gone wrong and how to find out why.measurements and variability in experiments.reproduction of data done by different scientists and differing outcomes.they all thought Einstein was nuts.didnt he get kicked out of school.dad was a 2nd gen trained Einstein physicists. He published got huge grants ,taught at universities. The simple solution is to call tekton.i have the equivalent of three ph.d ,I think in contrast bill gates and steve jobs didn't even graduate and look where there at and I'm sure they never had lawyers either.lets get along and enjoy the music .it calms the savage beast.

Looks like the OP vanished.
Humm. Wonder what this could be about. Like we never have been down this road before.
