So if you turn around and the R channel is now on the L and you turn back around again do you associate the memory? Fascinating phenomenon.
Or at least it would be if you knew that is what you what you wrote. Which is....? What exactly do you mean by "so many"? Which ones? Exactly?? And what do you mean by "once again"? How many Zep albums were they swapped on?? |
It can be strange, you just need to try and get a new perception, especially if you have seen a group live. I saw the Hot Sardines, a Jazz group, wonderful, live, wide stage. Piano right end, Trombone left end (behind Christmas Tree actually). Drums, sax, trumpets, upright bass, all spread in a line, behind
Singer right of center, Tap Dancer left of center. Loved them, bought this double album, 1 disc Live from Toronto; 2nd Live from Joe's Pub, NYC.

I know Joes Pub, been there many times, put that disc on first Huh? Everything is reversed. I know the stage is smaller width and depth, but Piano clearly on the left, singer off center Left. Checked the date, it turns out Donna was there at that performance with her twin sister. Yes, she says, the Piano was on the left. here's a video of them at Joes Pub, piano left

Second listen of LP, knowing it was correct, real, I could push my prior memory out and enjoy (accept) the imaging my system presented. These are excellent recordings, I highly recommend them. One nice feature of McIntosh vintage equipment, is their Mode Switch, Stereo, Reverse Stereo, Mono, and other shifts of channels that are very helpful with final balancing of your system. Reverse Stereo, you could simply put it 'right' as you wish. btw, it is possible the original was reverse of reality, the re-issue correct. |

If it bothers you so much, just swap inputs on your pre when you play that album... |
channel phasing effects can be off, when you swap channels.
the mix...is the mix...in most stereo albums. They are NOT dual mono.
properly done 'stereo' has specific ambience cues which are phase sensitive, complex micro and macro in situ phase sensitive, with a dual channel aspect in a given perceived instrument position....and swapping channels means that the stereo effect is then ...totally messed up.
Thus... one is forced to deal with the record or source material (stereo material) as it comes/arrives/exists.
If one swaps channels in a stereo mix..invariably... the instruments seem bunched at the one left or right speaker, and sound as if the sound is turned slightly inside out, and the center fill is gone..everything is sonically a mess, essentially.

Sam here and teo_audio1 is right on the money well done friend. My point is that lf the record company swaps channels on remasterd versions of vintage albums there is an alterier motive behind it? For example the 1st buffalo springfield album has been swapped and I remember hearing the 45rpm of for what it’s worth on you tube and it’s just like i remember however the remastered digital version is swapped and it simply sound off.lf it was mono who cares. Why would jimmy page delibertly swap the channels on the 2014 zeppelin reissues both digital and vinyl? Before i even knew what was going on the 2014 vinyl remaster of zep 1 sounded different than i remembered i could not put my finger on it but if was not right and after hearing a 1st press on youtube from 1969 and i knew the channels had been swapped and it totally effected the soundstage. |
I don’t see how or why this would be a “dirty trick”. If you are correct, a screw up probably. Like MC, how many have you found? Which ones?
|
Ah yes. A screw-up? Or an exercise in evil?
|
At this rate Sam you will soon have uncovered all of the nasty record companies evil little tricks and secrets. Big bad scary monsters. So glad you could share all of this with the forum......... |
These days the DT department at most record companies (the few that remain) is bigger than A&R. There are *more* conspiracies out there to be revealed to the unsuspecting public. |
It's another satanic trick, kind of like playing records backwards, only in this case, it's sideways. Beware! |
Dastardly deeds discovered! When will it stop? We need to take it to the streets overthrow the oppressor man. ORIGINAL MIXES MATTER!
|
|
Jimmy Page corrected the L,R channels on the remaster. Many of the original LZ 1 releases had reversed channels, some were correct. I have different pressings of LZ 1, some have guitar on left, some on right.
|
So basically in the ops example which is his basis for this deranged thread JP was just making things right in 2014?
Maybe a bit of fact checking before posting crazy conspiracy theory threads is in hand. |
The swapping of channels on a recording or remaster has happened over the years, sometimes it’s individual songs and not album sides. This happens during the production chain, orders are not passed down from the record label. It’s usually blamed on the mastering engineer.

Sam here, Sam there, Sam everywhere. If you turn around, the tracks will be correct. Problem solved, thank me later. |
Why buy a remastered album if what you want is the original? |
I would really appreciate it if you would not post here anymore. Thanks for you consideration of this request. |
"...I'm Not paranoid....'They' come and whisper 'n gloat in my ears some nights...."We are going to ruin your fondest memories of the bands, the artists, those riffs that caress your cares.....".....Evil Masters of the Mismix.....*heart-breaking sobs*...

These threads are cancer. |
Good Grief! This post makes me wish another member would start an argument over cables.

Good Grief! This post makes me wish another member would start an argument over cables Careful what you wish for.... Actually fuse thread arguments are more fun! Light Aunty Fuses touch paper and watch him burn bright! |
Sam here and based on the coments it is apparent to me that common sense is a thing of the past because anybody with comman sense would at least entertain my theory with an open mind |
Remind us what the "theory" was? |
Well it is a well known fact that common sense is the least common of all senses nowadays.
So your point is.....? |
Btw Sam. Did you actually READ any of these posts here as all the answers to your OP are contained their in.
Yes there are some Snarky posts but still the truth is out there! |
Just pretend you’re actually on stage with the band--then everything is right, and, wow, what a rush to be on stage with Led Zep! I’ve experienced this same thing with classical piano recordings. It seems sometimes the butt end of the piano is facing me and sometimes the keyboard. So, the low and high ends of the range are reversed in the stereo L-R image.

It‘s obviously big pharmacy in league with the recording industry yet again. Or just perhaps Aleister Crowley made Jimmy Page do it. It‘s a pity you can‘t play CD‘s in reverse to find out....... |
Here, there and everywhere. Big Pharma may explain this thread. |
