I love to support USA products as much as I can. Even if it costs more. Id say 2nd choice Europe or Japan. Last place China.
So USA made HiFi products I have are... Magnepan, Odyssey, Geshelli, Rythmik, Schitt, Bluejean, Belden, Analog Productions( vinyl). Musichall & Monitor Audio (UK), Nagaoka, Magomi(Japan),
Other USA made HiFi I know of.. Kilpsch (high end speakers), Jeff Rowland, P.S. Audio, Emotiva?
Im sure there are more. Please continue list and lets support our own.

many people don’t think their racist, antiX, proY posts are edgy. They just think it’s free, open, peaceful discussion, thinking out loud, expression, exchanging ideas. But as soon as someone says: "hey you’re intolerant" they call it unacceptable. @grislybutter Top marks! You're totally right. Not even close to the 20% you sited And regarding depreciation, used examples of my automobile from 2020 forward sell for the same as original MSRP or even more. Now that we got that out of the way, my stereo equipment is mostly USA assembled, including VPI from NJ, Benchmark from NY, McIntosh from NY, my JBL’s were built in Northridge California, some old Crown amps from Indiana I don’t use anymore, and I also have Harbeth’s however they’re from the UK.

It's not wrong to support the U.S.A and its allies... at least here we have the freedom to disagree... and the freedom to ask questions. Boycotting or even sanctioning countries - or certain people - is legit practice. I won't be calling out names here on this forum, but some of the naivete and juvenilia being spouted on this forum is astonishing. |

I consciously try to stay away from products manufactured in China. I realize there are some (many) things that are impossible to do that on these days, but where I can, I try to do it. Where I can I will spend my limited cash supporting companies not in communist/totalitarian countries. Maybe an over simplified approach, but that is how I think. My audio gear is from the US, England, Japan, and yes Taiwan. I support their desire to stay free of the ROC. |

People should find out where all the raw materials are from or processed before saying this is made in a certain country. A lot of products in the audio industry which are labeled made in the US are in fact assembled in the US, like the majority of cables. Ask to see the Cardas factory and see the raw copper being made, if it exists. |
@sunkist69 you should go to the Cardas website and watch the video of the copper extrusion and spooling being done here in the USA. Here you go pal learn something.

A fundamental principle of economic liberalism is that competition drives improvement and lowers costs, while also promoting economic growth. Economic nationalism runs counter to this. However, it isn't quite that simple because there are two important words that need to come before "competition" and that is "free and fair". Which is why we have trade agreements. However, for all of the above conditionality, historical experience is that international trade drives growth and economic nationalism restricts it. Apropos the USA, in the 1970's it took European and, even moreso, Japanese car makers to force US Automakers to wake up and raise what had become utterly appalling quality and efficiency standards. Clearly the imperial project to convert westerners into a seething anti-Chinese mob in order to garner public support for the coming war continues apace with very successful results. I mean, once you are no longer able to compete effectively, the only remaining option is to attempt to undermine or destroy your geopolitical rival. Here in Canada anti-Chinese sentiment is increasingly nasty. In fact, I heard a news report last year that the greater Vancouver area was the #1 region in North America for violent attacks against innocent persons that appear to be Chinese to their attackers, whether they actually are or not. I personally do not care whether or not my goods originate from China. The western world kisses the ring of the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where public beheadings of citizens and non-citizens alike for such "crimes" as infidelity or apostasy are a matter of routine, and holds holy and above reproach the nation of Israel which maintains brutal apartheid policies and, once caught in the act, reluctantly admitted to running a covert racist undertaking involving sterilizing Ethiopian Jewish women immigrants without either their knowledge or consent. I see nothing of the sort. I do see anti-China, which is much different. I don't see anyone hating on Taiwanese people and they are Chinese. Same with more in Singapore. Vancouver, isn't that where the Canadian Government just recently said there was a concerted effort by foreign powers (China) to attack a federal election candidate, likely to the point of losing when they would have won? Unfortunately, actions like that, as well as initial Covid coverup, and the massive racial shift in the makeup up the area based on the inflow of money (and people) from Hong Kong and China can lead to people lashing out at others via association as opposed to who they should be mad at, their government. Being forced out of an area after generations have built it up due to government allowed policies can make people angry. I am sure your government has taken total responsibility? (I am assuming you are Canadian). Feel quick to call me racist, but that issue is no different from uncontrolled gentrification which has hurt minority communities hard. Is that okay? No more okay what "Americans" or "Canadians" buying up all best properties in a 3rd world country. On the aspect of competition, is it possible for someone to live in Canada (or America) at the wage paid to the average worker in China? What about the overhead for employment standards, safety, environment? What about even overhead for what we consider reasonable infrastructure? Level the playing field, and things become more competitive. Look at Japan now.

A very close friend of ours is one of the few who were allowed to observe the reality that exists in the industrial sweat shops of China.She was appalled by what she saw...
Here is my experience regarding electronics made in China-the" 1/3 rd rule" One third function well for many years without defects. One third have a minor irritating defect but otherwise work OK One third are either DOA or crash after the warranty expires which is usually between 1-3 years...

My Chinese Quads have better QC than my UK Quads (which I sold). Parts are beginning to fail after 15 years, especially panels exposed to sunlight, but even that, apparently, has been fixed. Political, ethical, economic matters are another discussion, but let's be clear about what we are really talking about. |
Ah yes...play anti Chinese as we peck away on our MIC computer,router and all cables-as you sip your coffee in a MIC mug. Let's be real- unless you play with higher end goods-ARC,VAC,Atma etc. you're gonna have a product diluted with MIC something. That's not saying some smaller companies aren't trying their best to "keep it real." I enjoy my MICaudio value products. They do as intended and reliable as any US made product, such as my 1967 Mac tuner. Assembled in USA is not the same as MADE, which is used loosely these past few decades now. |
You buy products from Japan!?!? After what they did to us on December 7th 1941?? A little back story - I worked at a Radio Shack back in the 1970's and many a WWII vet walked in and were very upset that we sold stuff made in Japan and they refused to buy anything made in Japan. They'd actually became very angry at us for selling "Jap" stuff. Now of course, that's all been forgotten and it's now China who people refuse to buy from. I understood the Japanese hatred back then. My Dad fought in WWII and lost several friends. But I don't get the China hatred thing. They haven't shot up a school full of little children, crashed airplanes into buildings, nor invade another country. OK, I'll give a little bit on Covid, whether accident or purposeful, they actually hurt themselves more then anyone, so that kinda backfired. They have slave labor, but so do other countries. What they are doing to the Uyghurs is very bad, but it's not like we treat everyone equally either. So.....who are the saints and who are the sinners? And what does it have to do with Audio? I agree with others, I buy from Humans. At least until the Aliens arrive with better DAC's....or have they? Where did R2R DACS come from anyway? |

Ask how people in Nepal feel. Hong Kong. How do people in Taiwan feel when under threat. We have nothing like the Uyghurs in the last 100 years of history. How about the forced displacement of Uyghurs with a planned influx of Han. How about their claims to virtually everything in the South China sea .. ask how Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia feel about that. |
