Greatest American Born hockey player ever = Auston Matthews (not even in his prime yet)
2022 is almost here. Why are you here?
So why are you here?
No why are you on this forum?
Is it to discuss music?
Is it to discuss equipment and how to optimize your system?
Is it to meet new people and share ideas and well yes opinions?
I know those are the reasons I came to this forum. My favorite section is “What’s on your turntable tonight”. I also enjoy sharing my experiences in audio and well life so far.
Things I do not care for but come in an ecosystem like this are:
Posts that get hijacked.
People who politicize a post and everything is a right wing, or an alt left conspiracy.
Dealers that post to hawk their wares and services.
Boisterous bloviating blowhards’ that everything they do, own, and think is the best and you are schitt.
Personal attacks (I am guilty and will admit it)
I am right and you can not prove me wrong, so I am right. Tweaks are BS show me the DATA. Condemnation of a tweak or performance upgrade formulated on opinion, not science or trial and error.
There are a few only a few that are here just to be disrupters that pounce on posts by certain individuals looking for the opportunity to make them look the fool or extremist. So, it all goes back to the original question.
Why are you here?
I despise New Years resolutions and I am not going to make one here for 2022. I will say that if a post gets flushed down the political crapper I will move on. If the zoomer’s (thanks nonoise for that phrase) hit the thread, then the thread is dead to me.
My goal in 2022 is to avoid conflict unless it is on the ice.
Love to hear form you all and Happy New Year!
I worry people might think the Jordan Peterson video is nothing more than a dig on all the posers preening their virtue. It is, but not only. Check it out: "If you do a good job invisible doors open in front of you." The ones this is directed at have been around here long enough to see this is happening. (Paraphrasing) "finding young people they can mentor and move forward." "It's actually one of the pleasures of being competent at something." That's what I'm doing here.

i am here for the walk on basketball tryouts… Music first Gear now and then, try to help people, learn. I miss guys like Almarg. IF i had a 2022 resolution, it would seek to emulate him. RIP. Dave - I am good with dueling, never did upgrade the Hammerli to the electronic trigger, so i am good….without batteries… can we do 50 meters ? That tends to sort out the hacks….but IF ya want i can do 5 in 4 with the Walther OSP..short… Best to you Dave, wishing you, the pup, Rabbit and Mrs. Dave all the best in tge new year. I am here to learn and help others if I can. I don't judge another's audiophile journey---I try not to disrespect anyone even if I think they're being a jerk or too opinionated. There are some on here that seem to have a chip on their shoulders or just like to stir up trouble. I try to avoid the drama if I can. Hoping everyone has a healthy and happy new year. |
I have all the kids here for one more night. Going to hang with them and their wives before the head off to Nashville, Tokyo and Denver. See you all tomorrow and @artemus_5 I hope at some point you can. Sorry:

Good call. I see you know our boy who needs constant adulation as seen by his chosen icon.
Just don’t say anything about "poor people" and don’t offer to apologize if he proves your assertions to be wrong. He’ll run to mommy. My question is why is he here?

The easy answer is I love music but I’m not sure that’s really true. In my opinion music generally sucks. Amazon music has over 75 million tracks and if there were 10 thousand that I would listen to more than once I’d be really surprised. I’m audiophile because I love the performance. I first thought it would be the musician but that’s not true either. It’s really rare to enjoy a musician’s whole album much less the whole catalog. So it’s the performance I love. When I do come across that great performance I strive to become intimate with it as I can. How the voice trails off or those slightest changes in presentation. The details separate good from great and the equipment brings out the details. I’m and audiophile because of intimacy. I become emotionally attached to the performance. I’m driven to get closer to better understand the intent and then revel in it. I’m also a techy so being here feeds both parts |
Bless me father, for I have sinned... Being raised Catholic, I've learned, first hand, the hypocrisy of asking for forgiveness, being absolved for your sins, only to have a clean slate to go out and rack up the sins for next Saturday to confess away so you can have Communion on Sunday with a clean conscious. I'm here to learn about audio, share it and enjoy it with others and have that sense of community. At times, it's necessary to do the role of parenting and call out the miscreants who mean to turn this site into their personal playground. This is a community site and no one's safe space to release their spite and hate filled thoughts that they've developed and nurtured on some other dark and silly place. Personally, I think the mods should have a tighter, broken windows policy. All the best,

I’m here for me. I don’t go after people to much. I just watch for the most part, unless it get WAY out of hand. There are a few that flock to others like stink on pink but, if they didn’t what else would they post about? I think there are some great examples of how NOT to conduct yourself here on AG. It’s a pure learning experience for me at times.. I can assure everyone usually those being talked about are just a quick-witted and usually can give as good as what was dished out. The question is do you want to address the "Twit" remark, or be the bigger person? It’s tough to be a Gentleman or a Lady it seems.. They need to bring back dueling I think. Better than the cowardly drive-by, punk A$$ mentality of today. When I was a kid you went and got your big brother, now you get a Humvee and a Bazooka. Somethin' changed Regards |
