make it easy !

This is a new function. Previously it was ridiculously complicated to

post pics. I mentioned this to AGon Cust Service and was basically told to pxss off. I’m glad they addressed the issue. It is now a simple copy/paste function - at least from iPhone camera files.  Don’t use the about pic icon.

Miles never fail to impress me as the planet mars ...

Chet touch my heart as the moon  and Louis Armstrong touch my heart as the sun, these two sings as they played ...

In between there is all the other great one on trumpet but none are over these three for me...

Okay. I struggled with this too. Then I found a great free website that allows you to upload images here: https://postimages.org/

To post here simply upload an image from your phone photo app - then copy the image code using the “direct link” code - come here and click on the photo icon - and paste the link in the URL location - click okay. Now you can observe your photos in just a few clicks.

This site is awful. Clunky as hell. For example, the 1st time I tried to post this, I got the dreaded "Opps that's a 404". After I was verified human several times. Just awful.

Test....Nope, with Safari the image ikon only takes a URL (online address); no cut & paste here.

Disclaimer: I don’t sell, market, or GARA about this item.... but I think it’s funny and might look ’pertinent’ next to your TT.... ;)

Way easy to post nearly anything....

To ascertain if your photo is hosted online, right click on it and "copy image address" has to be one of the options. It's the only option to choose so don't copy and paste as A'gon is not set up for that. It's not like clicking and dragging some image to an email either.

All the best,
Nonoise

timothy, others

I created a Virtual System on Audiogon, called 'MISC INFO' on this forum's computer, just for the purpose of posting an image, just used it

open the list of 'My Virtual Systems' (you can have many)

list of my virtual systems

right side, actions, pick EDIT

upload any image from your computer, save changes, close, reopen it

now, right click the image, 'copy image address' (it's url)

then, in a post, 6th icon from left, IMAGE, paste the url

in width box, edit it to 500

post your response

just uploaded to post in a protractor discussion

@elliottbnewcombjr I am aware of that every pic I've tried to post is hosted online. It still won't work unfortunately.

Now I am interested in this topic...

Here is my system, copied from my home computer, and not available online - I opened it and right clicked and settled on "copy", then pasted:

And nada...

So, do I need to post this image online first? What about a FB post - can that be shared if it is nestled in the FB system, not visible to non-"friends"?

Nope - that does not work either (one can keep updating and editing this these posts for 30 minutes!).

So private images cannot be shared here at all it appears. One has to post to an online image repository and then post the path to it, I guess.

Does anyone have an online place they recommend?

Tim

You shouldn’t have to host your photos online to post them. Welcome to 2000.

This.

Also, online pics do disappear, and hosting sites too (remember Photobucket?), leaving blank frames in the posts where the pics used to be.

Not a big deal if it showed your cats lounging on top of your class A monoblocks pumping a Wagner symphony into your 1 ohm speakers.

On the other hand, the vanishing of hosted pics has rendered useless literally thousands of carefully documented fix / repair threads, and that's a loss for the community.

No one should use linked hosted pics imo.

Oh brother.

All the best,
Nonoise

Am I wrong?

Didn’t think so…..

Images often take a fair amount of storage so I suspect managing operating expenses factors into the decision to not make it as easy as it could be.

i  use google chrome copy paste  it even shows on preview sometimes here but not when posted
never a prob ANYWHERE else
EXCEPT HERE
why don't they fix it ?

jond

image has to be online, follow my instructions above to copy and paste the image address using the 6th icon from the left, and if it comes in distorted, use the fix nonoise told us about, enter 500 in the width box

Just for fun copy pasted a random pic of my system the photo pastes and I see it but when I post the message is just empty.

I use windows, google chrome, a random variety of problems have occurred since I joined in 2019,

Pretty sure what happened is when they first rolled out the ability to post pics it worked fine. But now Agon seems to be incompatible with Firefox my preferred browser. I can't post pics and also can't edit my virtual system. Both work fine if I access the site using Edge as a browser. So if you also use Firefox that's why.

nonoise, tried copy address, it was coming in distorted, I entered 500 in the width, fixed, thanks for that

ozzy, we get what we don't pay for,

You shouldn’t have to host your photos online to post them. Welcome to 2000.

If you photo is distorted, before posting it, click on the width box and bring the horizontal value down to around 500 or so and the rest of the image will properly resize without fiddling with the rest of the values.

A good photo sharing place for posting your shots here is imgur.com. It's free and easy to do.

All the best,
Nonoise

so, now the photo is online in my virtual system 'misc'., I’ll copy and paste from there

Does the forum actually support photos on the site? I am used to SH Forums which requires you to put an image on a third party site and embed or link to it. I get why they do that--it takes up a lot of bandwidth.

copy from my hard drive

paste

this is my new to me 2015 bmw 650i convertible on it’s way north from Tampa, FL where I found it with only 33k miles

OH NO, we got caught, it stopped working, I'm gonna upload to this site, then try the copy image address method

I tried copy & paste and it works fine up to 'preview' but doesn't work when posting. You still need a URL address from some place that can store your photos so you can copy the image address.

All the best,

Right click an image on the web, copy "image address"

Paste it into the image url.

If it is your own image, stick it on imgur.com or some other image hosting site. Copy "image address’, do the same as above.

Oh balls.

(insert picture here that does not show up in post unless photo is already online)

Mozart balls.

Still a royal pita.

fb has allowed "private" posting from day 1. Here images have to be at least "on the cloud." My photos are synced and it's not worth waiting for a fresh addition-edit.

@elliottbnewcombjr thanks for the example of how the forum's official method is FLAWED (in addition to LACkING.)

Yes, it has been accepting pasting anything you copy in your clipboard for a while now (it didn’t used to). That makes it easy to copy an image from anywhere, including from your computer and paste here. this is online, a simple copy and paste

Full view

...............................

Previously (and if they restrict it again), you had to know how to paste the address of an image that was already online,

1st, pick an online image, anywhere, right click it and ’copy image address’ (it’s url)

2. in your post here, top bar, click 6th icon from left, ’image’.

dialog box opens, waiting for you to paste the image’s url

bingo, it appears. you can name it anything in the ’alternative text’ box

lately, they come in distorted when I use this method, this is the same image that I simply copied and pasted above

not mine, but I just bought one of these in Tampa, FL, flew down, drove it 1600 miles home

Right click on image and hit ’Copy image’

Right click in this box and click "Paste’

It can’t be any easier.

How?

Not intuitive.

Easy for you after someone showed you how.

Otherwise it would be commonplace.
