Savoy Brown - the version that made "Raw Sienna". Have to agree with Blind Faith, Little Village and Derek and the Dominos for fantastic one offs.
Also, the first touring version of Steely Dan - circa "Can't Buy a Thrill". This is a hard one because Fagen and Becker have been around so long, but this particular band was an inspiration. |

Yeah, the La's, forgot about that really short lived band. Scousers' finest, even better than the Beatles, The Liver birds, River City People, The Kop, Emlym Hughes, Neverton FC,
and not forgetting Cilla Black, now there was a voice.

"One and Dones" are a unique subset of short-lived bands.
The La were a good one, as was Little Village, mentioned above. I'd add The New Radicals to the this list.

OK, I've seen Little Village mentioned a couple of times now, and IMHO they don't fit the bill. I think of them more as a Supergroup composed of 4 of the best in the business, i.e. Cooder, Hiatt, Keltner and Lowe.
Although I own the CD and listen to it on occassion, I think the whole is way less than the sum of the parts.
Heck, If we're going to include "bands" like Little Village, I'll through Rockpile into the mix......

Little Village might not have realized their full potential (IMHO - the same is true of another popular choice - Blind Faith) but they were still a lot of fun. As to Rockpile - they do belong on this list - and i mentioned them last summer. Why not?

Buffalo Springfield maybe? The spring board for CSN&Y and Poco. Maybe not the best short lived band but they were certainly a very influential band from the folk/rock fusion genre of the mid 60's. |
Blind Faith. For sure. Absolutely. Not even close. "Do What You Like" is worth the price of admission on it's own. Ginger Baker's solo is BY FAR the best rock solo of that era...probably of all time. And don't go all Neil Pert on me. |

Alice in chains... No doubt they lingered for about 7 years, with no real backing concert tours, and a few albums, but they were never really a band due to many obstacles, and still accomplished a lot of great music . And they were the first to really hit the scene from the "Grundge" capital, not nirvana. |
