I don't care and won't bother looking.
Guess who has new speakers in their lab?
Well the suspense is over and six hours ago 7300 people up to this point also know that his new speakers are… Wait for it, just a little bit longer, need to be patient, he needs to remove the giant red sleeves.
The suspense is killing me. And finally after several months of being patient i will find out what speakers he now has. But first he needs to go down memory lane to see the pretty pictures of his past incredibly expensive speakers. I can’t believe the moment has come.
At three minutes and 41 seconds it’s revealed that the new speakers we’ve been very patiently waiting for, which are proclaimed as being the best speakers he has ever owned, which weigh in at 560 pounds apiece and cost $250,000 presumably for the pair. They’re pretty damn nice looking, really big. And the winner is… really? I’m not gonna tell you …. you’re gonna need to watch the video. And don’t forget to smash the like button and become a subscriber.

Unless someone can listen to them, it really doesn't mean much. Then, if you like them and want them, have to be able afford or willing to blow that kind of money on them. I prefer to follow along with reviewers who try and show stuff average folk can afford to buy and own, not just rotate gear. If you are curious, make an appt, go fly out and listen to them. Otherwise this is just daydreaming. |
Here is just one A'goner's viewpoint. I don't find it at all unusual that OP would put a discussion about a video pertaining to speakers in the amp-preamp section. The speaker Jay has purchased is beautiful and based on my short audition of the lesser SF Lilium I don't doubt it deserves to be included with others at the top of the food chain. Jay had one of the most popular threads in A'gon history for years before going "commercial" with his you tube channel. I have never found him to be abrasive. I wish him tremendous success; he has worked for it.

It’s a non-event. And you need to cut the 💩 with these posts. |
I used to wonder about that also. I remember that there was a member, @jumia , who used to do the same thing . . . I haven't seen him around lately. Could it be . . ? |
@nonoise , good to see you are among the living! No longer wishing all the best for everyone? I cannot say that I blame you for that. |
Let's see... Jay, of all people, acquires more, really expensive audio toys. What a surprise! Apparently, we're supposed to get REALLY excited about this. Why? For no reason other than it's Jay, apparently. No harm in being a fanboy, I guess. But to expect those who are not part of the cult to be excited -- that, I don't understand.

@immatthewj I felt that some shorter responses didn't necessatate the use of it. I'm getting lazier as i get older. 😄 All the best, |
i am so glad to own my 100 bucks modified speakers... Is it not provocative?😁 Think about the difference in S.Q. between this 250,000 bucks speakers and mine... Mine are way less good for sure but i live happy with them...Think about the difference in price and the difference in S.Q. it is big difference for sure but not so much that audiophile could think ... They for sure will called me deluded but i am just provocative to awake them and push them to be more creative... The most remarkable things in this video, is his room changes, after all these years buying costly products Jay has learned at the end why room acoustic matter... i modified my speakers using Helmholtz concepts. Yes acoustics is more than just room acoustic but Jay dont modify the speakers he borrow... ... 😊 Acoustics is the cure... I prefer now to buy 250,000 bucks of music albums...
|
I dont understand why sane people will accuse someone with no negative posts and captive in his room (disabled) who had no much social contact and who is interested by audio to be a troll because he appear naive with his enthusiasm or questions ? All those here sarcastic all the time with not much creative , musical or acoustical contributions are what ? 😊 We are all friends here , then act as one...
|
And the OP is right about that... Then why disparage Jay as a person ? Myself i dont give a damn about 250,000 dollars speakers, because my own modified are tremendous ( in their low cost class, dude dont put anything stupid in my mouth there is no comparison between this and mine but acoustic happiness had no relation to price tags) ... But where can i look and listen to a review as this one ? After all i like audiophiles ... Being one myself but in my own way... 😁
|
For those by the way who recommended OP to go sunshine instead of discussing here with enthusiasm , i remind them that the OP is disabled and probably cannot easily go to see outside if more interesting people walk the street ... It would be a good idea though because people at random encountered on the street dont use sarcasm as easily in front of stranger ... 😊 |
I must say that i dont give a damn about reviewers... but i like a few of them for the human attitude... Jay is one... As Huff or Erin .... I dont need upgrades😁 then i like to listen the people as human, the product is secondary for me...I am curious though about any new product... I must be an audiophile ... 😊 More than i am ready to admit.... |
@mahgister Thank you |

The Age of Enlightenment (also the Age of Reason and the Enlightenment) was the intellectual and philosophical movement that occurred in Europe in the 17th and the 18th centuries.[1][2] The Enlightenment featured a range of social ideas centered on the value of knowledge learned by way of rationalism and of empiricism and political ideals such as natural law, liberty, and progress, toleration and fraternity, constitutional government and the formal separation of church and state.[ Our dispensation shall be labeled as "The Age of Entitlement". Not much enlightenment there.

@tony1954 Ha ha! Spot on. |
Jay’s a nice, passionate, audiophile fellow who’s able put together some really awesome, ultra high-end audio systems that he likes to highlight on youtube. I really enjoyed viewing Jay’s videos when was solely dedicated to purchasing audio gear, displaying and playing his dream audio systems on youtube. Now, Jay seems to spend less and less time playing his incredible audio systems on youtube, which was the only thing that really interested me about his channel in the first place. Jay, has also expanded his activities within the high end audio industry and has now worked his way into becoming one of the industry’s insiders, thereby prohibiting him from spending as much time in his lab playing music. Jay, in order to create more suspense around his channel, likes to manufacture drama around his channel in order to attract more viewership. Nowadays, seeing/hearing megabuck audio systems like the kind of systems Jay specializes in on youtube has become pretty much commonplace on youtube. At any rate, occasionally, I'll still check-in on Jay’s Lab to see what he’s up to. Happy listening. |
