Have Audiophiles lost their CIVILTY!

Have we lost our ability to respect each other and our differing opinions.  Why are some people so insecure that they are hell bent on being right?

calvinj

abe Lincoln said that if this country were to fall, it would be by its own hand. that is happening now.

When you are in remission again, take turmeric pills on a daily basis and eat only once every 13, 14 hours or just once a day (if you get there). Many people in different parts of the world can eat just once a day and get by. Cancer cells (everyone has them in smaller numbers) consume a lot more nutrients a lot more frequently than healthy cells. By fasting on a consistent basis and spreading those meals out, you can keep their numbers under control.

The ’medical industry’, as you may know......well...this thread is bound to have all the lousy dudes crawling out from under their rocks soon enough, so, i suppose we shall just leave it there and move on...

Life is too short. I’m in my second title fight with cancer and it’s taught me for sure what’s important and what is not.

We are civil  one by one... Not many against one....

Idiots gangstalk or scapegoat someone for any ideological reason...

«Thinking is a very solitary business with big profit though and no taxes» Groucho Marx cool

I’m old fashioned. I was taught to believe in facts, ethics, manners, compassion, discipline, respect etc. Pretty sure it’s a Judeo-Christian thing?

Much easier maybe to just ignore these supposedly good practices that do not necessarily come easily. They don’t really seem to matter as much these days.

Let me give it a shot…..ahh, very strange sensation:  🧘‍♂️->>>>😡>>>>👺

@2psyop

People understand pain and suffering

I used to think that. But during covid when people would prefer their "freedom" not to wear masks and to be able to scream into other people's face to their parents staying alive, I learned that a large % of the population just cares about their right to be stupid. Even death wasn't enough to learn - other people's. I think most of them, on their own deathbed came to their senses.  Covid was not a stuntman's gig, nobody got any entertainment out of watching things go seriously bad.

People understand pain and suffering, Anyone is free to believe what they will and get news or influence from social media, propaganda networks or PSYOP campaigns. They may not understand what they are fed, but they know pain and suffering. For Americans and others the pain is just starting.... and it will get worse.

For those who are lazy, uninvolved and don’t do their homework... they vote and make others suffer because of ignorance. They may not understand oligarchy but they understand pain.

I agree that societal changes have meant people are less civil to each other.  They are less face to face and simply more willing to be disrespectful to someone they don't see as a person, but just as an account on a forum.

Specifically regarding audio, the introduction of digital hasn't helped.  There are a whole lot of people trying to apply analog logic to the digital world and rejecting the advice of engineers who actually understand it.  There have always been tweaks and arguments over tweaks...cables, rocks, markers, demagnetizers, whatever...but now there is a whole new slew of tweaks for digital to argue over.

Coo. Autism bashing. Coo.

Lots of change past 10 years, not much change since you put up identical post 12/23 ...

I've been dumping social media friends faster than they're firing federal employees.

Whole lotta “toy boys” here overly defensive of their stuff.

Just put in a good word for the work Amir does over at ASR and watch the fireworks begin.

Insecurity begets hostility.

It’s magnified exponentially in autistic spectrum disordered technogeeks but that’s just my humble medical opinion.

People don’t care as much about one another anymore since Covid. As in, “ I don’t care about what you think”..

good news: Climate Change has just ben solved. Musk is axing NOAA, there will be no one left to collect data. The terms have been banned anyway, so we will just fry blissfully without scientists telling us that it is a 100 degrees outside and will be 120 tomorrow

If a certain someone gets their way, we're looking at 800,000 government employees losing their jobs which will lead to a massive recession. Let's see how much snark there is around here if that happens.

I'll be laughing and saying life ain't fair and the world is mean to the cultists out there crying about their situation, wondering where their $5,000 dividend check is.

All the best,
Nonoise

oh to live in ignorance of the pain inflicted on others… every probationary employee terminated for performance issues… clearly a lie, fabrication and cruelty… not to mention a statistical impossibility…  And you wonder how it it could possibly seep in…. wow…..

@calvinj

I am doing well. The last year has been pretty trying, but in a good spot now. Looking forward to Axpona in a few weeks.

@csmgolf how have you been. You are definitely right this country is in a bad place and people are out of control.  I don’t argue with folks anymore. I let them be.

@kb54 and @waytoomuchstuff

Everyone should read these. You both have it spot on. Couldn't have said it better.

@immatthewj Yeah...I've been vaccinated but at my age (soon to be 71) I don't think I got the Edmonston-Enders strain but the Enders strain. From what I've read so far, old farts like me (or anyone over 50-60) should get another shot just in case.

People at my age can have really bad reactions to measles and I don't want to be incapacitated yet. As for 'the others', let them enjoy their Freedom Sores. They can wear them as a badge of ...............?

(not courage, that's for sure).

All the best,
Nonoise

Well, @nonoise , you've probably been vaccinated against measles . . . unlike you-know-who and you-know-who. . . .

High fidelity is never perfect. When you can have two companies make great versions of the same product they still won't perform the same. That's a time when the human condition too often takes sides to claim their side is right. Thank goodness we're talking about high fidelity and not religion or politics when too often in history lives become at stake.

@immatthewj I appreciate that. Something tells me some here wish I'd contract measles or Ebola and just go away but that will never happen.

As for Almarg, I miss him too. From what I remember he'd have something to say and would be shot down by the newer members here.

All the best,
Nonoise

After Almarg died, things seem to have gone downhill- at least for me.

Thankfully, I have the Vandersteen Forum.

Bob

This is honestly the least of my worries even though I’ve experienced it. The mental disorder that is ravaging America (and the world) is overwhelming.

Think of how many lab-made chemical are in our food and water. 80,000? 100,000? Count from 1 to 1,000. You will start to understand how big 100,000 really is. And each of these chemical can really F people up.

Expecting people to be normal in a crazy world, you are the crazy one.

The people that wholeheartedly rely on FDA for their well being is the equivalent of air diving without a parachute. Albeit ones has a faster result.

Uhh, I never knew I had CIVILTY, whatever that is.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Lighten up, Francis.

Happy listening to one and all.

I am waiting for my cue to talk about how I feel. Oh wait. Everybody knows it. I'm good.

The 'Dunning-Kruger effect' is the best explaination I've heard. The less you know, the more you think you're right. (as shown in the comments above.)

“The first rule of the Dunning-Kruger Club is that you don't know you are a member of the Dunning-Kruger Club.” David Dunning The Dunning-Kruger Effect is when people are too ignorant to understand that they really don't understand. Their confidence exceeds their competence in a certain area.

How it works

  • People with limited knowledge or competence in a given area overestimate their abilities.
  • They may be quick to offer solutions or advice without fully understanding the problem.
  • They may take unnecessary risks because they believe they possess superior skills.

@waytoomuchstuff posts state many truths.

As for divide and lack of civility, this as old as human existence. wars nearly always being fought. Dehumanizing the 'other' leaves no room for communication or empathy. These events play out due to human predilection for zero sum games, humans much prefer winning to compromise, Contemporary social media is the greatest propaganda machine ever known by humans, presents a perspective that total annihilation of your opponents is within reach, no willingness to compromise when total win within your grasp.

Yes spectacle like taking a chainsaw to the US government that people depend on. Who likes that really? Besides Vladimir Putin and now apparently Elon Musk? Our President?

Chaos is so soothing.
